scholarly journals Penguin Search Optimization Based Feature Selection for Automated Opinion Mining

Twitter sentiment analysis is a vital concept in determining the public opinions about products, services, events or personality. Analyzing the medical tweets on a specific topic can provide immense benefits in medical industry. However, the medical tweets require efficient feature selection approach to produce significantly accurate results. Penguin search optimization algorithm (PeSOA) has the ability to resolve NP-hard problems. This paper aims at developing an automated opinion mining framework by modeling the feature selection problem as NP-hard optimization problem and using PeSOA based feature selection approach to solve it. Initially, the medical tweets based on cancer and drugs keywords are extracted and pre-processed to filter the relevant informative tweets. Then the features are extracted based on the Natural Language Processing (NLP) concepts and the optimal features are selected using PeSOA whose results are fed as input to three baseline classifiers to achieve optimal and accurate sentiment classification. The experimental results obtained through MATLAB simulations on cancer and drug tweets using k-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), Naïve Bayes (NB) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) indicate that the proposed PeSOA feature selection based tweet opinion mining has improved the classification performance significantly. It shows that the PeSOA feature selection with the SVM classifier provides superior sentiment classification than the other classifiers

Breast cancer is a significant health issue across the world. Breast cancer is the most widely-diagnosed cancer in women; early-stage diagnosis of disease and therapies increase patient safety. This paper proposes a synthetic model set of features focused on the optimization of the genetic algorithm (CHFS-BOGA) to forecast breast cancer. This hybrid feature selection approach combines the advantages of three filter feature selection approaches with an optimize Genetic Algorithm (OGA) to select the best features to improve the performance of the classification process and scalability. We propose OGA by improving the initial population generating and genetic operators using the results of filter approaches as some prior information with using the C4.5 decision tree classifier as a fitness function instead of probability and random selection. The authors collected available updated data from Wisconsin UCI machine learning with a total of 569 rows and 32 columns. The dataset evaluated using an explorer set of weka data mining open-source software for the analysis purpose. The results show that the proposed hybrid feature selection approach significantly outperforms the single filter approaches and principal component analysis (PCA) for optimum feature selection. These characteristics are good indicators for the return prediction. The highest accuracy achieved with the proposed system before (CHFS-BOGA) using the support vector machine (SVM) classifiers was 97.3%. The highest accuracy after (CHFS-BOGA-SVM) was 98.25% on split 70.0% train, remainder test, and 100% on the full training set. Moreover, the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was equal to 1.0. The results showed that the proposed (CHFS-BOGA-SVM) system was able to accurately classify the type of breast tumor, whether malignant or benign.

Opinion Mining or Sentiment Analysis is a task in the processing of natural language to find the customers' mood about buying a specific product or subject. It involves developing a framework in many online shopping sites to gather and review opinions about the product made. Opinion mining is a sub-field of the mining of web content. Data mining is a branch of Web content mining. Opinions are statements that reflect the opinion or sentiment of individuals. Opinion on objects or events is also given in this statement. For any person, reviewing consumer review is more relevant in making the right buying product and organization decision. CS is the best search algorithm inspired by cuckoos' breeding behavior. It provides a short overview of the nature-inspired algorithm's applications. The CS algorithm is used in various fields, such as business, image processing, wireless sensor networks, flood forecasting, document clustering, speaker recognition, distributed system shortest path, health sector, job scheduling. In terms of better efficiency and less processing time, the Cuckoo algorithm performs various nature-inspired algorithms. Therefore, this research paper proposes a hybrid feature selection which is a combination of cuckoo search and mRMR (Minimum Redundancy Maximum Relevance) algorithm. Due to the subjective nature of social media reviews, hybrid feature selection technique outperforms the traditional technique. The performance factors like f-measure, recall, precision, and accuracy tested on Amazon dataset using Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier.

In this proposed method, MR Brain image segmentation technique based on K-means clustering combined with Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) based feature extraction and Gray Level Co-Occurrence Matrix (GLCM) based feature selection approach has been presented. A Perfect Radial Basis Function (RBF) - Support Vector Machine (SVM) Classifier has been selected for this process. The Performance of the classifier was estimated through accuracy based on the fractions selectivity and sensitivity. Accuracy of the proposed classifier was found to be 93%. Moreover, in this proposed method, instead of selecting the cluster centres in a random manner, Histogram technique was used.

The fundamental aim of feature selection is to reduce the dimensionality of data by removing irrelevant and redundant features. As finding out the best subset of features from all possible subsets is computationally expensive, especially for high dimensional data sets, meta-heuristic algorithms are often used as a promising method for addressing the task. In this paper, a variant of recent meta-heuristic approach Owl Search Optimization algorithm (OSA) has been proposed for solving the feature selection problem within a wrapper-based framework. Several strategies are incorporated with an aim to strengthen BOSA (binary version of OSA) in searching the global best solution. The meta-parameter of BOSA is initialized dynamically and then adjusted using a self-adaptive mechanism during the search process. Besides, elitism and mutation operations are combined with BOSA to control the exploitation and exploration better. This improved BOSA is named in this paper as Modified Binary Owl Search Algorithm (MBOSA). Decision Tree (DT) classifier is used for wrapper based fitness function, and the final classification performance of the selected feature subset is evaluated by Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier. Simulation experiments are conducted on twenty well-known benchmark datasets from UCI for the evaluation of the proposed algorithm, and the results are reported based on classification accuracy, the number of selected features, and execution time. In addition, BOSA along with three common meta-heuristic algorithms Binary Bat Algorithm (BBA), Binary Particle Swarm Optimization (BPSO), and Binary Genetic Algorithm (BGA) are used for comparison. Simulation results show that the proposed approach outperforms similar methods by reducing the number of features significantly while maintaining a comparable level of classification accuracy.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to develop a novel feature selection approach for automatic text classification of large digital documents – e-books of online library system. The main idea mainly aims on automatically identifying the discourse features in order to improving the feature selection process rather than focussing on the size of the corpus. Design/methodology/approach – The proposed framework intends to automatically identify the discourse segments within e-books and capture proper discourse subtopics that are cohesively expressed in discourse segments and treating these subtopics as informative and prominent features. The selected set of features is then used to train and perform the e-book classification task based on the support vector machine technique. Findings – The evaluation of the proposed framework shows that identifying discourse segments and capturing subtopic features leads to better performance, in comparison with two conventional feature selection techniques: TFIDF and mutual information. It also demonstrates that discourse features play important roles among textual features, especially for large documents such as e-books. Research limitations/implications – Automatically extracted subtopic features cannot be directly entered into FS process but requires control of the threshold. Practical implications – The proposed technique has demonstrated the promised application of using discourse analysis to enhance the classification of large digital documents – e-books as against to conventional techniques. Originality/value – A new FS technique is proposed which can inspect the narrative structure of large documents and it is new to the text classification domain. The other contribution is that it inspires the consideration of discourse information in future text analysis, by providing more evidences through evaluation of the results. The proposed system can be integrated into other library management systems.

This paper presents a Hybrid Feature Selection Technique for Sentiment Classification. We have used a Genetic Algorithm and a combination of existing Feature Selection methods, namely: Information Gain (IG), CHI Square (CHI), and GINI Index (GINI). First, we have obtained features from three different selection approaches as mentioned above and then performed the UNION SET Operation to extract the reduced feature set. Then, Genetic Algorithm is applied to optimize the feature set further. This paper also presents an Ensemble Approach based on the error rate obtained different domain datasets. To test our proposed Hybrid Feature Selection and Ensemble Classification approach, we have considered four Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier variants. We have used UCI ML Datasets of three domains namely: IMDB Movie Review, Amazon Product Review and Yelp Restaurant Reviews. The experimental results show that our proposed approach performed best in all three domain datasets. Further, we also presented T-Test for Statistical Significance between classifiers and comparison is also done based on Precision, Recall, F1-Score, AUC and model execution time.
