The paper presents the first record of Lithurgus cornutus (Fabricius, 1787) in Poland. Until recently, bees of the genus Lithurgus have not been recorded in Poland. Five females and one male of L. cornutus were caught in Lublin Region, SE Poland. The localities are beyond the range of this species, being the northernmost known records from Central Europe. The following information is provided: short diagnosis, ecology, distribution, recent records and threat status of L. cornutus in Central Europe.

In 2015, we recorded the first attack of the great spruce bark beetle, Dendroctonus micans (Kugelann) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae, Scolytinae) on non-native Picea orientalis (L.) and Picea pungens (Engelmann) in Slovakia. To our knowledge, the occurrence of D. micans on P. orientalis in Central Europe has not been described yet. We found that D. micans preferred P. orientalis over P. pungens and other coniferous trees in urban areas. In laboratory conditions, 352 adults of D. micans emerged and only 1 predator, Rhizophagus grandis (Gyllenhal) (Coleoptera: Monotomidae), was recorded. D. micans has a potential to become a serious pest of P. orientalis and P. pungens in urban, and in air-polluted areas.

A total of 19 Finnish species of the subgenus Tipula (Pterelachisus) are presented. The highest species richnesses are observed in the southern, south eastern and eastern parts of the country and the lowest number of species are found in south western, western and northernmost Finland. This pattern is probably caused by the climate and the eastern Palaearctic origin of several species, but also by differences in forestry history between eastern and western Finland. 16 % of the species are red-listed (NT-VU); these species are confined to primeval heath forests or herb-rich forests and have small distribution areas. 42 % of the species are generally poorly known (NE-DD) and 42 % are rather wide-spread and common (LC). Furthermore, 26 % of the species are National Responsibility Species of Finland; these are boreal species, being absent or rare in Central Europe. The distribution of species in Finland and their area of occupancy is positively correlated. There is also a positive relation between the global range of any species and the extent of its regional occurrence in Finland.

A finding of the lymnaeid species Ladislavella occulta (Jackiewicz, 1959) [Mollusca: Gastropoda: Lymnaeidae] in Hungary is reported, which is the first record of this snail in the country. The shells of L. occulta were found in 1989 in the marsh area of the Bátorliget Nature Reserve. The current distribution of this species in Eastern and Central Europe is reviewed. It is hypothesized that L. occulta represents a relic species, whose origin may be traced back to the Pleistocene

Helophorus villosus Düftschmid, 1805, known formerly from Central Europe, has been recorded for the first time from Ukraine (Odessa Region). A description of the species and data on its ecology and geographic distribution are given. H. villosus is proposed to be included in the Red Book of Ukraine.

The assemblages of phytoseiid mites on the leaves of Tilia cordata and T. platyphyllos planted in heterogeneous urban habitats were studied. Six phytoseiid species, namely, Euseius finlandicus, E. gallicus, Neoseiulella tiliarum, N. aceri, Paraseiulus talbii, and Typhlodromus (Typhlodromus) pyri, were found on the studied linden leaves. The results indicate that both T. cordata and T. platyphyllos may serve as favourable host plants for the generalists E. finlandicus and N. tiliarum in urban environments. Both generalist predatory species preferred sheltered leaf microhabitats. The first record of E. gallicus in central Europe and the consistent occurrence of other phytoseiid species on the surveyed linden trees confirm the important role of urban greenery in landscape biodiversity.

<em>Microstoma protracta</em> (Fr.) Kanouse is a strictly protected species in Poland, which is also present on the red list with the category R (rare). In Poland, there are five known localities for the species, including four historical sites discovered at the beginning of the twentieth century and one contemporary site discovered at the end of the twentieth century. In this paper, we present two new localities for <em>M. protracta</em>, discovered in April 2006 in Czeszewo (Wielkopolska Lowland, Jarocin Forest District) and in April 2017 in Krakow-Tyniec (Krakow-Częstochowa Upland, Myślenice Forest District). Sequences of the nuclear ribosomal DNA internal transcribed spacer regions of sporocarps from contemporary localities have been deposited in the GenBank database. This is the first record of the DNA barcode for this species. According to Criterion D of the IUCN recommendations, it has been suggested that <em>M. protracta</em> should be considered as a critically endangered species (CR: D) in Poland.

Aim. The study of the genus Melanotus from the collection of the Institute of Zoology of the Scientific Center of Zoology and Hydroecology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia taking into account new taxonomic and chorological data.Material and Methods. Scientific material was identified after desktop processing and preparation of genitalia according to current data on the genus Melanotus.Results and Conclusion. We determined 21 species of the genus Melanotus in the collection from Europe, the Caucasus and Middle Asia, 12 species being recorded from the territory of Armenia. The collection of the genus Мelanotus in the Institute of Zoology includes species endemic to Armenia (M. gedeoni Mardjanyan, 2015, M. platiai Mardjanyan, 2015, M. khnzoriani Mardjanyan, 2015), to Tajikistan (M. fragilloides Dolin, 1988, M. vidualis Gurjeva, 1988) and to Iran (M. dichroides Platia & Gudenzi, 1999, M. richterae Mardjanyan, 2015). Three species, M. castanipes Paykull, 1800, M. fulvus Reitter, 1891 and M. sladkovi Dolin & Atamuradov, 1986 are recorded for the first time for Armenia. M. rustamovi Dolin & Atamuradov, 1987 is the first record for Tajikistan and M. persimilis Dolin & Latifi, 1988 for Turkmenistan.

Colobopsis truncata is a common Mediterranean species distributed mostly in southern and central Europe. In Romania, the species is expected to be widely distributed, but data are scarce. Both minor workers and soldiers of the species were collected in different sites during field observations in the spring of 2020. Herein we report the first record of Colobopsis truncata from Moldova and new records for southern Romania.
