We examine the relation between public concern about immigration and customer complaints against minority financial advisors in the United States. We find that minority advisors are more likely to receive complaints in periods of high public concern about immigration than in other periods, relative to their white colleagues from the same firm, at the same office location, and at the same point in time. This result holds for both complaints with merit and dismissed complaints and is more pronounced in counties where residents likely hold stronger anti-immigration views. We also find that minority advisors are more likely to face regulatory actions or leave their firms after customer allegations in periods of high public concern about immigration than in other periods. Overall, our study provides descriptive evidence of a positive relation between public concern about immigration and customer dissatisfaction with minority advisors. Abstract Translators may experience significant psychological and physiological responses to time pressure. This study examines such responses with the aim of identifying valid indicators of time pressure in written translation. Forty-five postgraduates participated in the study, translating three comparable English texts into Chinese under three time conditions (Short, Standard, and Free). A positive relation between time stringency and the arousal level detected by a set of self-reporting and biomarker measures was hypothesised. The hypothesis was corroborated by results derived from participants’ self-reporting on stress and anxiety, and the biomarkers of heart rate, blood pressure, and pupil dilation, but not by skin temperature, galvanic skin response (GSR), and heart rate variability (HRV). Thus, the measures that confirm the hypothesis are considered successful indicators of time pressure in translation. In addition, an inverted ‘U-shaped’ pattern was observed in the relation between time stringency and the arousal level indexed by GSR and HRV. These findings may facilitate research and training in translation and other cognitively demanding language-processing activities.

The prominence of Helicoverpaarmigera (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) averse insecticide resistance was traversed in the course of 2017 in Karnataka, India. The results divulged typical resistance level prostrating in selected newer insecticides, even though exiguous higher resistance airing in insect growth regulator Novaluranwith LC 50 of and 13.02 to 18.07 ppm and 1.17 to 1.95 folds resistance) compared to newer group insecticides Spinasad, Indoxacarb, Flubendiamide, and Rynaxypyr (3.57 to 10.19 ppm, 1.01 to 1.27 fold). Raichur and Kalaburgi strains comprehend higher resistance to Novaluran and newer insecticides with exception of Flubendiamide (Raichur and Vijayapura strains), respectively, and Spinosad (Kalaburgi and Raichur strains), respectively. The morphometric parameters of larval length, pupal length, and weight were most in RCH stain (2.75 cm, 1.76.18 cm, and 0.511 g, 0.309 g) respectively, which was pursued by Kalaburgi strain. The morphometric correlation revealed that larval length was a significant positive relation with insecticide resistance which might be an influence of resistance but not merely responsible. Among newer insecticides, a significant positive correlation between Rynaxypyr and Indoxacarb was evident, similarly, Nuvaluran with Indoxacarb and Rynaxypyr as well. Usage pattern revealed that 81.67 % of farmers found to use insecticides more than the recommended dose and 70.83% have habit consecutive applications of products from the same chemical group which bears witness to developing resistance.

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to bring colossal impact on families, particularly on marital adjustments. This paper reports findings of a study that examined perceptions of home demands, social support, and marital adjustment among women during COVID-19. A sample of 252 women was taken. Participants were administered a Demographic information sheet, Home Demands Questionnaire, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, and Enrich Marital Satisfaction Scale. The data was analysed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient and Multiple Linear Regression analysis. Results revealed a significant negative relationship between perceptions of home demands and social support, and marital adjustment, and also a significant positive relation between social support and marital adjustment among women. Findings showed that women are likely to face additional problems because of limited sources of social support due to COVID-19 which is an imperative aspect for marital adjustment. Findings have implications for marriage counsellors, therapists, and clinical practitioners.

Abstract The goal of the present study was to replicate and extend previous research that demonstrated the incremental validity of narrative identity in predicting psychological well-being among Korean adults. We recruited 147 Korean adults living in South Korea who completed a battery of questionnaires that assessed the Big Five traits, extrinsic value orientation, self-concept clarity, and psychological well-being. Participants then wrote a story about how they had become the persons they were, which was subsequently coded in terms of agency. We found that psychological well-being was positively related to extraversion, agreeableness, openness, conscientiousness, and self-concept clarity, but negatively to neuroticism and extrinsic value orientation. The positive relation between agency, coded from narratives, and psychological well-being was significant both with and without controlling for the other variables. These results showed that narrative identity has incremental validity in predicting well-being among individuals who live in a culture where collectivism and individualism coexist.

AbstractPrevious studies in adults showed heterogeneous results regarding the associations of personality with intelligence and executive functions (EF). In children, there is a lack of studies investigating the relations between personality and EF. Therefore, the aim of our study was to examine the relations between the Big Five personality traits, EF, and intelligence in a sample of children (Experiment 1) and young adults (Experiment 2). A total of 155 children (Experiment 1, mean age = 9.54 years) and 91 young adults (Experiment 2, mean age = 23.49 years) participated in the two studies. In both studies, participants performed tasks measuring working memory (WM), inhibitory control, cognitive flexibility, and fluid intelligence and completed a personality questionnaire. In Experiment 1, we found a negative relation between neuroticism and intelligence. In Experiment 2, we found a positive relation between conscientiousness and intelligence and a positive relation between conscientiousness and cognitive flexibility. Our results suggest a complex interplay between personality factors, EF, and intelligence both in children as well as in young adults.

Aim: To determine the frequency of hypomagnesaemia in children with hypocalcemic seizures. Study Design:  Cross sectional descriptive study. Place and Duration: Department of Pediatrics, Liaquat University Hospital, Jamshoro / Hyderabad. From November 2017 to April 2018. Methodology: Children (06 months to 06 years age and of either gender) having Two or more than two hypocalcemic seizures within 12 hours duration were included in the study . The children with hypocalcemic seizure were assessed for magnesium deficiency (hypomagnesaemia). The evaluation of hypomagnesaemia was done according to the cut off / reference values for hypomagnesaemia (<1.8 mg/dl). The data was collected on pre-structured proforma (attached). Results: Total 147 children with hypocalcemic seizures were taken in this study, among them 49 (33.3%) patients had found low magnesium level and 98 (54.4%) patients had normal magnesium level. Conclusion: Seizures associated with hypocalcaemia is one of the common type of convulsion in children. In our study, a positive relation was found between low levels of serum magnesium and hypocalcemic seizures.

Purpose of this study is to measure characteristics of core capital ratio, bank capital, deposit, net profit after tax, and earnings per share and their separate relationship and measure the individual impact of core capital ratio, bank capital, and deposit on financial performance i.e., net profit after tax (NPAT) and earnings per share (EPS). Descriptive, correlational, and casual comparative research design has been used in this study. This study analyzed secondary data of twenty-six commercial banks from fiscal year 2012/13 to 2018/19 out of twenty-seven. Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and regression analysis statistical tools were used in this study. According to its findings, earnings per share is highly dispersed in comparison to net profit after tax as well as core capital ratio than bank capital. There is high degree of positive relationship in between net profit after tax and deposit. Low degree of positive relation in NPAT and core capital ratio and moderate degree of positive relation in NPAT and Bank capital. Low degree of positive relation of EPS with deposit and low degree of inverse relation of EPS with core capital. Core capital ratio, bank capital, and deposit positive effects for increasing NPAT. Out of its, deposit highly effect. Deposit positive effects for increase on EPS. High contribution of deposit and core capital to increase net profit. The results of this study have relevance and probable generalizability about the impact of capital adequacy ratio and deposit to increase financial performance of commercial banks in Nepal. Keywords: NPAT, EPS, Capital, Deposit, Commercial banks
