AbstractThe multiplicity dependence of the pseudorapidity density of charged particles in proton–proton (pp) collisions at centre-of-mass energies $$\sqrt{s}~=~5.02$$ s = 5.02 , 7 and 13 TeV measured by ALICE is reported. The analysis relies on track segments measured in the midrapidity range ($$|\eta | < 1.5$$ | η | < 1.5 ). Results are presented for inelastic events having at least one charged particle produced in the pseudorapidity interval $$|\eta |<1$$ | η | < 1 . The multiplicity dependence of the pseudorapidity density of charged particles is measured with mid- and forward rapidity multiplicity estimators, the latter being less affected by autocorrelations. A detailed comparison with predictions from the PYTHIA 8 and EPOS LHC event generators is also presented. The results can be used to constrain models for particle production as a function of multiplicity in pp collisions.

By using the revised Landau hydrodynamic model and taking into account the effect of leading particles, we discuss the pseudorapidity distributions of produced charged particles in high energy heavy-ion collisions. The charged particles resulted from the freeze-out of the matter produced in collisions possess the Gaussian-like rapidity distributions. The leading particles are assumed having the rapidity distributions of the Gaussian form with the normalization constant being equal to the number of participants, which can be figured out in theory. It is found that the results from the revised Landau hydrodynamic model together with the contributions from leading particles are well consistent with the experimental data carried out by BNL-RHIC-PHOBOS Collaboration in different centrality Au + Au collisions at energies of [Formula: see text], 130 and 62.4 GeV , respectively.

The transverse momentum pT spectra of both hadrons and jets produced in pp collisions at beam energies from hundreds GeV to a few TeV exhibit power-law behavior of 1/pTn at high pT, with similar power indices n. The respective nonextensivity parameters for transverse momenta distributions and the global nonextensivity parameter obtained from multiplicities are compared. In particular, data on kaon to pion (charged particles) multiplicity ratio are analyzed, assuming that the reaction occurs in some nonextensive environment. The values of the corresponding nonextensivity parameters were found to be similar, strongly indicating the existence of a common mechanism behind all these observables.
