A Learning Management System (LMS) is a software application for the administration, documentation, tracking, reporting, and delivery of e-learning education courses or training programs. The traditional distance education for mathematics has heavily relied on the application of LMS. However, the Standards for Mathematical Practice have provided the requirements to mathematics educators at all levels for the students' development. This chapter presents the introduction of the transformation from LMS to Internet-based research in the mathematical education. This is the viewpoint of the patterns, developments, changes, or phenomena within their respective fields with regards to distance education of mathematics. It also creates a broad, multidisciplinary understanding of online education across educational boundaries and demonstrates the unique future trajectories that online education has within these mathematics.

Coronavirus is a widespread dangerous disease in recent months, originated in China but with a great impact at the global level. As a result, the education process is choked by shut down of college & universities and maintaining social distancing for reducing the outbreak from community transmission. The purpose of this study is to explore the effectiveness of Learning Management System (LMS) in higher education to support teaching and learning in this ‘new normal’ by providing a stand-alone platform for online & distance learning. LMS is a software application for administering, documenting, tracking, reporting, automating, and delivering educational, training, or learning and development programmes; which originated directly from the concept of e-learning. With the detailed conceptual approach of LMS, the study also associates with the practical implementation of Blackboard LMS in Chandigarh University. Additionally, the study also tastes a comparative analysis between Blackboard, Canvas & Moodle LMS.

E-Learning is one of the solutions in current learning system. Implementation of electronic-based learning, teaching and learning process can be more varied at the same time can eliminate the saturation of learners. Implementation of E-Learning or well known as Learning Management System at Slamet Riyadi University Surakarta, so far not running maximally. Among the most fundamental features available are not in accordance with the standards of application of E-Learning. The solution for this problem is better to design a new system. The development model used is to adopt the Borg and Gall model with the outline of the prototype application. In developing this prototype, data collection needs of users is done to relevant stakeholders, namely Information Technology Education courses, students and lecturers as end users as well as experts in the field of IT and curriculum. The results showed, based on the questionnaire to end users can be concluded that the prototype offered can be accepted among the end users and experts. This is shown from the statistical results of the analysis of the influence between variables that are formulated. Hypothesis of influence between variables most or dominant produce prototype acceptable.

As many institutions embrace e-learning, one of the technologies highly solicited is the use of the Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment (Moodle) platform. Moodle is a very flexible learning management system that is based on open-source software used by millions of people around the world to host and offer online education and training programmes. As an open-source learning management system, it offers a wide array of activities, themes, and resources made available for free by developers. The use of the platform and its resources in the creation and delivery of learning often challenged users who have not been previously trained to explore the tools in a productive manner. As a practitioner with over 15 years in the use of Moodle and cognisance of the need for teachers at all levels of education to quickly develop functional skills in Moodle that will enable them administer the platform, build and deliver courses, I opted to write this book entitled Functional Skills for Moodle Administrators and Course Developers: A Step-by-Step Guide for Beginners. The book is designed based on hands-on activities that will help teachers to explore the different features of the platform and create courses that are ideal for any category of learner. The book also offers possibilities to learn how to structure courses in different formats, select the best resources, activities, create assessments for specific purposes and grade learning outcomes. The book structured into seven chapters is flexible, paving the way for each chapter to be exploited independently without necessarily following the chronological order. The book also takes into consideration, the desire of innovative teachers who teach in schools that do not have a Moodle platform but are willing to explore the tool in the delivery of learning.

The current study examined factors affecting higher education students’ use of a mobile-based Learning Management System (m-LMS) for distance education during the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19). A survey instrument based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) was established and validated. The primary data were gathered from 1032 responses. The data were computed in SmartPLS 3.2. Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) procedures were conducted to assess the measurement and structural models. The proposed model is valid and reliable. Findings of the study show that relationships emerge in seven out of ten hypotheses. The strongest relationship is between Perceived Usefulness and Attitude while the weakest exists between Perceived Ease of Use and Attitude. This study emphasizes awareness about the use of m-LMS in education, especially during distance education due to pandemics like Covid-19. The model is expected to provide a useful base for future academicians interested in conducting similar topics of research.
