This chapter introduces ontology conceptual modeling for discovering Bluetooth Services in m-commerce. Discovery services in a dynamic environment, such as Bluetooth, can be a challenge because Bluetooth is unlike any wired network, as there is no need to physically attach cables to the devices you are communicating with. Regular Bluetooth service discovery protocol may be inadequate to match different service naming attributes. To support the matching mechanism and allow more organized service discovery, service relation ontology is proposed to extend and enhance the hierarchical structure introduced in the Bluetooth specification. Frame-based and XML-based approaches are used to codify the service relation ontology, which represents the relations of service concepts. A semantic matching process is introduced to facilitate inexact matching, which leads to a situation in which a simple positive or negative response can be meaningful. The Bluetooth ontology modeling represents a broad range of service descriptions and information. The semantic matching process improves the quality of service discovery. We believe that Bluetooth wireless networks’ amalgamation with the ontology conceptual modeling paradigm is a necessary component of creating a new path in the field of m-commerce infrastructures.

Purpose The railway signal equipment failure diagnosis is a vital element to keep the railway system operating safely. One of the most difficulties in signal equipment failure diagnosis is the uncertainty of causality between the consequence and cause for the accident. The traditional method to solve this problem is based on Bayesian Network, which needs a rigid and independent assumption basis and prior probability knowledge but ignoring the semantic relationship in causality analysis. This paper aims to perform the uncertainty of causality in signal equipment failure diagnosis through a new way that emphasis on mining semantic relationships. Design/methodology/approach This study proposes a deterministic failure diagnosis (DFD) model based on the question answering system to implement railway signal equipment failure diagnosis. It includes the failure diagnosis module and deterministic diagnosis module. In the failure diagnosis module, this paper exploits the question answering system to recognise the cause of failure consequences. The question answering is composed of multi-layer neural networks, which extracts the position and part of speech features of text data from lower layers and acquires contextual features and interactive features of text data by Bi-LSTM and Match-LSTM, respectively, from high layers, subsequently generates the candidate failure cause set by proposed the enhanced boundary unit. In the second module, this study ranks the candidate failure cause set in the semantic matching mechanism (SMM), choosing the top 1st semantic matching degree as the deterministic failure causative factor. Findings Experiments on real data set railway maintenance signal equipment show that the proposed DFD model can implement the deterministic diagnosis of railway signal equipment failure. Comparing massive existing methods, the model achieves the state of art in the natural understanding semantic of railway signal equipment diagnosis domain. Originality/value It is the first time to use a question answering system executing signal equipment failure diagnoses, which makes failure diagnosis more intelligent than before. The EMU enables the DFD model to understand the natural semantic in long sequence contexture. Then, the SMM makes the DFD model acquire the certainty failure cause in the failure diagnosis of railway signal equipment.

In SOA environments, as the number of published Web Services grows, the provision of a robust, scalable and efficient discovery service is still an unresolved issue. In this paper we present a P2P-based infrastructure that leverages the semantic technologies to support a scalable and accurate service discovery process. The key concept of the presented idea is the creation of an overlay network organized in several semantic groups of peers, each specialized in answering queries pertaining to specific applicative domains. Groups are formed by clustering together peers offering services that are semantically related. A semantic query routing mechanism ensures the delivery of queries to the groups that are semantically "worth" to respond. In this paper the architecture details of the proposed solution is presented. A system prototype has also been implemented and validated through a case study deployed on the PlanetLab testbed.

Web services technologies promise to create new business applications by composing existing services and to publish these applications as services for further composition. The business logic of applications is described by abstract processes consisting of tasks which specify the required functionality. Web services provision refers to assigning concrete Web services to perform the constituent tasks of abstract processes. It describes a promising scenario where Web services are dynamically chosen and invoked according to their up-to-date functional and non-functional capabilities. It introduces many challenging problems and has therefore received much attention. In this article, the authors provide a comprehensive overview of current research efforts. The authors divide the lifecycle of Web services provision into three steps: service discovery, service selection, and service contracting. They also distinguish three types of Web services provision according to the functional relationship between services and tasks: independent provision, cooperative provision and multiple provision. Following this taxonomy, we investigate existing works in Web services provision, discuss open problems, and shed some light on potential research directions.

Ontology is the process of growth and elucidation of concepts of an information domain being common for a group of users. Establishing ontology into information retrieval is a normal method to develop searching effects of relevant information users require. Keywords matching process with historical or information domain is significant in recent calculations for assisting the best match for specific input queries. This research presents a better querying mechanism for information retrieval which integrates the ontology queries with keyword search. The ontology-based query is changed into a primary order to predicate logic uncertainty which is used for routing the query to the appropriate servers. Matching algorithms characterize warm area of researches in computer science and artificial intelligence. In text matching, it is more dependable to study semantics model and query for conditions of semantic matching. This research develops the semantic matching results between input queries and information in ontology field. The contributed algorithm is a hybrid method that is based on matching extracted instances from the queries and information field. The queries and information domain is focused on semantic matching, to discover the best match and to progress the executive process. In conclusion, the hybrid ontology in semantic web is sufficient to retrieve the documents when compared to standard ontology.

The environments of pervasive computing are open and dynamic. In order to ensure the dynamic discovery of services evolving in a heterogeneous and dynamic environment, specific extensions to WSDL, known as A-WSDL are suggested. These extensions permit to a service provider to define the context of service use and the behavior associated to each change of context. To verify and prove the expected behavior of the suggested discovery protocol in the design phase, the Event-B formalism is adopted. One of the advantages of the Event B formalism is the application of the refining techniques which permit to express complex features by means of mathematical proofs and moves from an abstract specification to a concrete specification by using the Rodin tool which offers a support for the refining and the proofs.

Developing an efficient algorithm for traversing large ontologies is a key challenge for many semantic-based applications. This chapter introduces an approach, spreading activation over ontology (SAOO), to explore the relationship between two human diseases using an ontology-based spreading activation approach. SAOO comprises two phases: semantic matching and diseases relatedness detection. In the semantic matching phase, user-submitted diseases are semantically identified in the ontology graph using the proposed matching algorithm. Semantic matching conducts more analysis in the matching process, which comprises term normalization; phrase analysis, and word sense disambiguation. In the diseases relatedness detection phase, the URIs of these diseases are passed to the relatedness detector to detect the relationship connecting them. SAOO improves healthcare systems by considering semantic domain knowledge and a set of SWRL rules to infer diseases relatedness. We present a use case that outlines how SAOO can be used to explore relationships between vaccines in the vaccine ontology.

Semantic Web Service technology is the solution to system integration and business collaboration for smart government which is cross-border and heterogeneous on a large scale. However the tremendous Web services search space caused by the wide range, large scale and complex e-government business systems is one of the great challenges for smart government. The paper focuses on researches about service discovery in e-government business integration for smart government. In accordance with the application environment and the current technical status of e-government, the author proposes a multi-strategy Web service discovery method on the basis of the proposed semantic model. The discovery process comprises three stages: keyword query with semantic enhancement, IO semantic matching and PE semantic matching. Finally similarity calculating method is proposed to evaluate the matching degree of each candidate service for service selection as well as the conclusions.
