Enabling Digital Transformation in Education and Training

The rapid rise of innovation and digital transformation trends have already begun to cause disruptions to the way we live, work, and learn. Education and training are placed at the forefront of this transformation process because of the learning needs to develop the required competencies for enabling a successful transformation. As educators and training experts become more aware of the potential of open and distance learning, it is essential for their educational planning that the opportunities offered by new technologies like disruptive technologies or digital transformation enabling technologies to be realistically examined. It is evident that educational institutions that fail to embrace digital transformation will be left behind in the upcoming years. Therefore, this chapter aims to discuss the digital transformation process in the field of education and training through the innovative solutions for the development of next generation digital learning environments and spaces.

While the idea of reusing objects in digital learning environments is not new, continual strides are being made toward improving the prospects of reusability. However, three of the main steps in reusability—finding a pedagogy in which both contribution and reusability are regular aspects, having a convenient technology for all stages of contribution and reuse, and finding institutional motivation and support for reuse—are far from common procedures in most higher education and company training settings. In this article we describe a shift in pedagogy and technology requirements that we see as major steps in accelerating the reusability process. We also position the reusability process in a broader context: an evolution in education and training toward either a Stretching the Mold Scenario or a New Economy Scenario.

Abstract In March 2021 the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) organised an online Technical Meeting on Developing Effective Methods for Radiation Protection Education and Training of Health Professionals with attendance of 230 participants representing 66 Member States and 24 international organizations, professional bodies and safety alliances. By means of a pre-meeting survey, presentations by experts, topical panel discussions and post-meeting feedback to the meeting summary, the meeting identified strengths, common weaknesses and possible solutions and actions for improving radiation protection education and training of health professionals. Available guidelines and resources for radiation protection training were also reviewed. The meeting discussion resulted in a strong consensus for the need of: (a) international guidance on education and training in radiation protection and safety for health professionals, (b) an international description of minimum standards of initial and ongoing competence and qualification in radiation protection for relevant professional groups, considering the available recommendations at international and regional levels. The proposed actions include provisions for train-the-trainer credentialing and facility training accreditation, balance between the online and face-to-face training, improved on-the job training, as well as improved inclusion in training programmes of aspects related to application of new technologies, ethical aspects, development of communication skills, and use of software tools for improving justification and optimisation. The need for making the ongoing training practical, applicable, and useful to the trainee was highlighted. The international consultation initiated by the IAEA was appreciated as a good approach to understand and promote coordination and collaboration at all levels, for best results in education and training in radiation protection of health professionals. Implementing such a holistic approach to education and training in radiation protection would contribute towards qualification and competence of health professionals needed to ensure application of high standards for quality and safety in medical uses of ionizing radiation.

The authors examine the Greek public tourism education and training system and its structure in order to identify whether there is a need for restructuring and development. To this end, they assess the relationship between the knowledge and skills provided and the requirements of the labour market and the needs of tourism enterprises with regard to specialized personnel. First, they outline the current situation in the Greek public tourism education and training system. They then describe a primary research project carried out (a) among graduates of tourism studies from all educational levels and (b) among tourism executives (directors and personnel managers). The data analysis suggests that the present level of tourism education in Greece is considered satisfactory. However, there is a perceived need for more practice-oriented elements in the curriculum and it is suggested that tourism education departments should restructure their curricula with a view to introducing more practical work, more educational visits to firms and industrial placements of longer duration. The tourism education system in general also needs to be better articulated, preferably with just one overseeing authority. Finally, collaboration between educational institutions and tourism-related bodies, both state-owned and private-sector, is to be encouraged as it will bring benefits to curriculum content and the matching of tourism qualifications with current industry needs.

Abstract: The creativity of learners in the learning process is mainly related to the management of education and training is needed and become the standard of competence that should be obtained. But at educational institutions most of the efforts to improve creativity is still not successful. During this effort to foster creativity of learners is based on efforts to motivate and consequently less than optimal. Through the method of assignment with the application of classroom action research and qualitative data analysis obtained the result that through the method of assignment to learners with the limits of assessment results then the creativity of learners in learning is increasing. UAE government can stimulate the development of innovations by giving due emphasis on the promotion of entrepreneurship education in youth. Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) would only succeed in UAE, when young individuals devise new technologies by using available resources, recruit and train the locals and manufactures products for both domestic and international consumption. This study emphasizes on the efforts made by the UAE government, particularly the government of Abu Dhabi for upgrading and expanding vocational education in collaboration with the private sector. An explorative study design is employed to review the need of the growth of vocational education in UAE with specific reference to Abu Dhabi. It also examines the recent efforts, undertaken in the vocational education sector in UAE and Abu Dhabi. Apparently, there is minimal evidence that technical and vocational education and training interventions are effective to provide employment for young people. The perception behind support and benefits, shared concepts of significance to offer entrepreneurship education.

It is unquestionable to say that we live in a hyper-connected world, where technology is present in all spheres of our life. Furthermore, it is the backbone for the transformation of our society, which is continually changing and requires continuous adaptation of the human being to the environment. (Durães, Carneiro, Bajo, Novais, 2016). In this paper, we present experience during the Pandemic situation with students at high school. The idea is to improve learning and motivated students to participate in the demands of the task by the teachers.
