Symbiotic Partnerships

This chapter addresses sophisticated organization interactions via symbiotic partnerships. These arrangements are dynamic and high performing, yet organizations maintain their independence and identities as they commit to shared goals and productivity. Both organizations co-brand efforts and take joint ownership, accolades, and responsibility. These arrangements are typically multi-year and have potential for multiple interorganizational projects and initiatives. While philanthropic and transactional partnerships serve as a “courtship” based on attraction, compatibility, and initial interaction, symbiotic partnerships for academy-business relations progress to another plane.

Judging other people is a common and important task. Every day professionals make decisions that affect the lives of other people when they diagnose medical conditions, grant parole, or hire new employees. To prevent discrimination, professional standards require that decision makers render accurate and unbiased judgments solely based on relevant information. Facial similarity to previously encountered persons can be a potential source of bias. Psychological research suggests that people only rely on similarity-based judgment strategies if the provided information does not allow them to make accurate rule-based judgments. Our study shows, however, that facial similarity to previously encountered persons influences judgment even in situations in which relevant information is available for making accurate rule-based judgments and where similarity is irrelevant for the task and relying on similarity is detrimental. In two experiments in an employment context we show that applicants who looked similar to high-performing former employees were judged as more suitable than applicants who looked similar to low-performing former employees. This similarity effect was found despite the fact that the participants used the relevant résumé information about the applicants by following a rule-based judgment strategy. These findings suggest that similarity-based and rule-based processes simultaneously underlie human judgment.

Talent retention and employee turnover are major concerns for higher education institutions (HEIs) because they are losing highly qualified staff to the private sector and to other HEIs that are able to offer better rewards and benefits. The turnover of talented staff is therefore a major concern for the institution under investigation. The retention and voluntary turnover decisions among a workforce of 4 651 employees was thus investigated. A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted by means of the objective analysis of organisational data in combination with the structured questionnaire (organisational climate survey). Descriptive and inferential statistics were applied to analyse the data across demographic groups, including age, employment category (academic as well as professional and support), etc. The results indicated that the institution’s turnover rate was acceptable (4.34%) and that dysfunctional turnover was marginal because employees with below-standard performance ratings had voluntarily resigned. Positive correlations and significant beta (b) values were reported between Organisational citizenship, Leadership, My manager and Compensation and the employees’ intent to stay in or to leave the organisation. These organisational climate factors were found to explain approximately 30 per cent of the variance in the employees’ intent to stay in or to leave the organisation. The article recommends that a talent retention tool be developed. In addition, it contributes to the literature on retention and turnover of high-performing employees, as it underscores the importance of measuring employee turnover

<p>Sulfidic sodium ion conductors are currently investigated for the possible use in all-solid-state sodium ion batteries. The design of high performing electrolytes in terms of temperature-dependent ionic transport is based upon the fundamental understanding of structure – transport relationships within the given structural phase boundaries inherent to the investigated materials class. In this work, the Na<sup>+</sup> superionic structural family of Na<sub>11</sub>Sn<sub>2</sub>PS<sub>12</sub> is explored by using the systematic antimony substitution with phosphorous in Na<sub>11+<i>x</i></sub>Sn<sub>2+<i>x</i></sub>(Sb<sub>1-<i>y</i></sub>P<i><sub>y</sub></i>)<sub>1-<i>x</i></sub>S<sub>12</sub>. A combination of Rietveld refinements against X-ray synchrotron diffraction data with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy is used to monitor the changes in the anionic framework, the Na<sup>+</sup> substructure and the ionic transport. A new simplified descriptor for the average Na<sup>+</sup> diffusion pathways, the average Na<sup>+</sup> polyhedral volume is introduced, which is used to correlate the contraction of the overall lattice and the found activation barriers in the system. This study exemplifies how substitution affects diffusion pathways in ionic conductors and widens the knowledge about the related structural motifs and their influence on the ionic transport in this novel class of ionic conductors.</p>

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui peran PPAT setelah terjadinya penetapan pembagian waris di Pengadilan Agama Garut, apabila terjadi hal terkait masalah proses peralihan hak atas tanah dan atau pembagian warisan sebaiknya para ahli waris terlebih dahulu datang ke kantor PPAT untuk berkonsultasi, agar dijelaskan tentang mekanisme penyelesaian serta di buatkan akta terkait pembagian waris sesuai peristiwa hukumnya yang sebelumnya sudah melalui proses pembagian waris di Pengadilan Agama. Penelitian ini mengggunakan pendekatan yuridis empiris.Berdasarkan metode tersebut penelitian menghasilkan pada pokoknya (1) Peran PPAT dalam proses peralihan hak dan Pembagian Waris di Pengadilan Agama Garut Menurut Putusan Pengadilan Agama yang isinya mengembalikan dan membagikan harta warisan kepada masing-masing ahli waris, selanjutnya PPAT membuatkan APHB, pada umumnya sama dengan alasan-alasan yuridis terkait pembuatan APHB yang menyatakan bahwa tanah yang merupakan warisan belum didaftar wajib dilampirkan dokumen-dokumen yang berkaitan dengan kewarisan dalam proses pendaftaran haknya sebagaimana tersebut dalam pasal 42 ayat 2 PP.24/1997, Pasal 111 PMA nomor 3 tahun 1997, KHI pasal 171-176, Pasal 37 ayat (1) PP 24/97, Pasal 136 PMA, UUPA nomor 5 Tahun 1960, PP 37 Tahun 1998, PP 3 Tahun 1997, PP 1 Tahun 2006, Perkaban Nomor 8 Tahun 2012. (2) Kendala dan solusi yang dihadapi oleh PPAT : a. Ketentuan yang mengharuskan pencantuman tanda tangan asli para ahli waris dalam pembuatan Surat Keterangan Waris dan Akta Pembagian Hak Bersama. b. Sistem pemecahan secara sempurna yang melahirkan produk akhir berupa sertifikat hak atas tanah dengan kepemilikan bersama atas nama para ahli waris. c. Perhitungan Pajak APHB. d. Persyaratan administratif yang harus dilengkapi oleh para ahli waris. e. Kantor Pertanahan terlalu kaku dalam menerapkan kelengkapan persyaratan. f. Kebiasaan Pejabat Pembuat Akta Tanah menyuruh pegawainya untuk menjadi saksi dalam pembuatan Surat Keterangan Waris. g. This research employs empirical juridical approachBased on the method, the research produces basically (1) The role of PPAT in the process of transition of rights and division of inheritance in Garut Religious Court Based on the Decision of Religious Court whose contents restore and distribute inheritance to each heirs, then PPAT make APHB, juridical reasons related to the creation of the APHB stating that the land which is inherited has not been registered must be attached with documents related to inheritance in the process of registration of its rights as mentioned in Article 42 paragraph 2 of PP.24 / 1997, Article 111 PMA number 3 of 1997, KHI article 171-176, Article 37 paragraph (1) PP 24/97, Article 136 PMA, UUPA number 5 Year 1960, PP 37 Year 1998, PP 3 Year 1997, PP 1 Year 2006, Perkaban Number 8 Year 2012. (2 ) Constraints and solutions faced by PPAT: a. The provisions that require the inclusion of the original signatures of the heirs in the making of the Certificate of Inheritance and the Deed of Rights Sharing. b. A perfect splitting system that produces the final product of a land title certificate with joint ownership on behalf of the heirs. c. APHB Tax Calculation. d. Administrative requirements to be completed by the heirs. e. Land Office is too rigid in applying the requirements. f. Habit of Officers of the Deed Land Author instructs his employees to become witnesses in the making of the Inheritance Certificate. g.
