Biological nutrient removal process is generally considered as the most efficient and cost-effective solution to deal with the pollution of natural water. In this paper, Contrastive experiments have been carried out to determine the feasibility of biological treatment of eutrophic lake water from Yingze lake of Anshan. The qualified native bacterium were selected, separated and enriched from the water and bottom sediment of eutrophic lake. The strains used in the experiments included native microbial strains and commercial strains. Contrastive experiments showed the microbial strains can effectively decrease COD, turbidity, ammonia nitrogen, total nitrogen and total phosphorus and inhibit algae growth. The native microbial strains can rapidly adapt to lake water environment and perform their normal functions in a relatively shorter time compared with commercial strains. The removal of total phosphorus from lake water by native microbial strains was inferior to that of commercial strains, but native microbial strains in combination with commercial strains can greatly improve the removal of total phosphorus.

Dredging is the available method to clarify eutrophic lake water for some engineers in recent years. This engineering may cause at least two negative influences on water environment, (a) pollution by dredging would occur during the operation, and (b) long-term effect degrade with some lake become dirty subsequently. Changes of the concentration of TP after the engineering of dredging are the focus in this paper. The content of total carbon (TC) and total nitrogen (TN) change at the same time for different original concentration of TP. Five grade original concentration of TP was simulated and the changing law was presented with the process of duration (D) and the change of temperature (T) as the independent variables. The results indicated that the concentration of TP decreased almost to 50% of their original ones respectively. But the changes of concentrations of TN and TC abide by the distinguished rule.

Langlivann and Himtjern are two basins in a lake situated on rocks poor in lime and with coniferous forest and bogs in the surroundings. The lake is fundamentally oligotrophic. The influence of allochthonous organic matter is shown by lake colours which are different shades of brown, and by water colours which at the surface are from 15 to 25 on the mg Pt/1 scale. Some differences in hydrology and morphology make the thermal and oxygen stratifications different in the two basins. At certain periods iron is accumulated in great quantities in the deep water. The differences, both in time and depth, in oxygen concentration make it possible to study the influence of this element on the reduction/oxidation of iron. An attempt has been made to find the critical concentration of oxygen. The value found by Einsele (1940) in eutrophic lake water seems also to be valid in this dystrophic lake. The development of dichotomous pH stratifications is shown. They seem to confirm the above statement.
