The use of grid manufacturing system, has become the trend of modern manufacturing technology. With reference to the idea of component design for workshop production business, a workflow and multi-agent based Grid of Reconfigurable of Manufacturing Execution System (GRMES) is presented. The configurable workshop production business can be handled, and the MES application system can correspondingly adjust with its change. The KQML is expanded to compensate for its description ability in the Workflow management system. XML is applied to support the data flow in GRMES, format the dispatched tasks and KQML, which can securely and concisely transfer different data among the workflow engines, agents and application on the GRMES. GRMES improves the problems such as adaptability and reconstructivity, which exist in the traditional MES.

Manufacturing Execution System (MES) has significantly evolved into more powerful and integrated software applications. However, MES applications still fall short of adding decision-making tools capabilities in adaptive manufacturing. On the base of analyzing the deficiencies of the traditional MES, this paper proposes the model of MES based multi-agent and the Contract Net based mechanism of cooperation planning. In the process of communication among multi-agents, strategy agent cooperates with schedule agent so as to realize dynamic and adaptive scheduling. Finalay, system framework based on CORBA and Multi-Agent System was put forward.

This chapter presents an agent-based architecture for integrating organizational knowledge repositories and business processes orchestrated by a workflow management system. This architecture proactively provides relevant knowledge to workflow tasks considering their context, and stores the information generated by its execution for future requirements. It describes components of the architecture, models a multi-agent system that enables the integration, presents a strategy to annotate and retrieval knowledge of non-structured information sources, and defines a new workflow pattern to be used in knowledge intensive tasks in order to make possible the knowledge provision. This architecture allows workers to count, in a proactive way, with all necessary information for the task executions without suspending their activities to retrieve information scattered in the organization. It reduces the wasted time in manual knowledge searches included in mostly knowledge management approaches.

Aiming at the design and development of integrated Manufacturing Execution System (MES) of solar photovoltaic modules production, the difficulty of the manufacturing execution management was pointed out combining with solar photovoltaic modules production flow, the goals and main functions of the integrated MES were analyzed and designed based on the analysis of solar photovoltaic modules production enterprise’s main characteristics and management status. The physical data model of MES was designed by Power Designer software and some key function modules which include workshop plans and scheduling management, Workflow management and control system and process quality control were developed based on J2EE. The practical applications in some solar photovoltaic modules production enterprises were proved that the integrated MES could enhance the manufacturing management level of solar photovoltaic modules production effectively.

Configurable MES is a hot attention in today’s industry. In this work, we present a MES model based on a production process modeling method. With the workflow management technology, a configurable MES framework is introduced and some important implementation methods such as production process modeler, activity script language and production process scheduler are presented. A successful application of an automobile engine assembly line shows that this model is useful and effective.

In this article, we establish a Multi-Agent-based collaborative commerce platform, raised a general collaborative commerce model in chain of retail enterprises, and use a competitive coordination mechanism to realize the workflow management between the centers and subsidiaries, and gives concrete for business applications.
