We designed the experimental model of main tower of Tianjin Haihe bridge according to photoelastic experiment theory and proceeded stress experiment at the positions where the stress calculation is precise. Then we compared the experimental results with the finite element calculation results to verify whether the photoelastic experiment fits the stress calculation of main tower of cable-stayed bridge. The experimental results show that the photoelastic experiment could supply gist for the stress calculation of main tower of cable-stayed bridge, which is significant far and wide.

Flexible supporting is a kind of treatment more reasonable than rigid supporting for dealing with the landslide of expansive soil cut slope. Base on flexible supporting treatment mechanism, a corresponding finite element calculation method is established. Take into consideration reasonably the expansion force, use nodal force to simulate interaction between the geotechnical grille and expansive soil. Calculation results agree with the actual situation, and have provided a theory basis for flexible supporting reasonable size of design.

Simplified calculation of initial stiffness of end-plate bolted connections is given in the paper. Considering the influence of the end-plate bolted connections to the internal force of the steel portal frames, the modified elastic calculation of internal force is suggestted. Comparing with the finite element calculation results of different span steel portal frames, the calculated value is agree with the finite element calculation results. End-plate bolted connections are semi-rigid connections, and the flexibility of the connections affects the behavior of the frames, the internal force of rigid frames should be modified when semi-rigid connections used. The modified elastic calculation of internal force of the steel portal frames with end-plate bolted connections is simple and has good agree with the finite element results, which can give reference to engineering design.

JiaoJiang second bridge is a 5-span continuous cable-stayed bridge with double pylons and double cable planes whose main span is 480m. The main girder’s cross section has used a new type of composite beams --Semi-enclosed steel box composite girder, this article describes the design concept ofto this new type of composite girder, researched and analyzed the overall mechanical behavior of the composite girder, the spatial bearing behavior of the composite girder’s connecting piece, the segmental assembling technology of the composite girder and the mechanical behavior of its connecting piece by means of experiment and finite element calculation, then looks forward to the popularization and application prospect of this new type of composite girder.
