This article argues the problem of ecological strategies in the landscape design and planning, and the main contents of ecological strategies. It includes the strategy of landscape sustainable development, which is in conflict with rapid economies and historic preservation, ecological conservation. The paper also discusses why people are the major controllable factor in the ecological strategies. In addition to these, the article studies the composition of landscape ecosystem, integrated ecology and design, integrated uses in landscape area, the method of interdisciplinary working. System theory is involved in this paper to discuss relevant questions.

Cybernetics in landscape architecture planning and design are discussed in this paper. There are many differences and characteristic in the area of design products compared with other industrial products. The control stages or steps include: information collection in previous designs, information feedback in the planning and design, information feedback in a building construction or in a partly-finished building, information feedback in the use of a finished building. The article studies integrated ecology and design, integrated uses in urban and landscape areas, the method of interdisciplinary working. System theory is involved in this paper to discuss relevant problems. The paper also discusses the major controllable factor in the ecological strategies, and then examines effective planning and design. This article argues the problem of ecological strategies in the landscape design and planning, and the main contents of ecological strategies. It includes the strategy of landscape sustainable development, which is in conflict with rapid economies and historic preservation, ecological conservation.

The landscape industry has become one of the industries with higher resource and energy consumption, and the implementation of urban low-carbon landscape construction is of great significance to improve the ecological environment. In this study, the method of low-carbon landscape construction was studied from two aspects including the carbon source control and carbon sink, as well as both direct and indirect effect. The results showed that the low-carbon landscape construction can be controlled from five aspects including landscape planning, landscape design, low-carbon landscape technology, low-carbon landscape behavior and low-carbon policy. Through a series of low-carbon measures, carbon emissions can be controlled at a reasonable level during the urban landscape construction, which also promotes the sustainable development of urban ecological environment.

The landscape design of resort is in the pressing need of implementing ecological idea with which it can be authentically established as the result of sustainable development involving people-oriented idea. The rapid development plus the reasonable application of landscape ecology provide the theoretical basis for the construction of ecotypic resort. Employing the theory of landscape ecology to instruct the landscape construction of resort may guarantee the sustainable use of its resources. The paper explores the fundamental theories and approaches of eco-design of resort landscape with the case of Yangmei Island Resort and elaborates the dominant ecotype idea in the process of designing the resort landscape to practically put the people-oriented idea into effect, aiming at creating a harmonious landscape and optimizing the resort landscape.

This paper evaluates the effectiveness of New York City’s attempts to promote its theater industry through zoning tools, which sheds light on balancing historic preservation and sustainable development. Using the original zoning resolutions and secondary data, this paper will analyze the changing problems, solutions, costs and benefits of setting up a Special Theater (Sub)District in order to protect a socially-desirable use and to recapture the value of private development at the same time. It will conclude that landmarking the theaters to be preserved provided them with legal protection and substantial funds created by the transfers of development rights (TDRs), while controls on Floor Area Ratio (FAR), usage and contextual requirements effectively shaped the area’s three dimensional form; the Special Theater Subdistrict has been highly successful.
