Through researched on corrosion factors and development progress of sour gas field in China, the development situation of sour gas field in China was defined, the types of sour gas corrosion and impact factors of hydrogen sulfide stress cracking were illustrated. The results showed that, there are many corrosion mechanisms not clear when synergistic with different factors. The 105ksi grade drill-pipe was manufactured successfully, but it’s not enough for deep-well drilling. The standard API grade drill-pipe of low yield strength and hardness were mainly used in high sour gas field development. A series of tubing & casing were research and development, and applied in many overseas oil fields successfully.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to solve the tubing corrosion problem of B Block on the Right Bank of Amu Darya river sour gas field. Design/methodology/approach By using four-point-bending method, the tubing’s ability to resist sulfide-stress cracking was tested. Simulating the wellbore corrosive environment, the corrosion inhibitor which was suitable for gas filed had been screened. According to the characteristic of Amu Darya river gas field, the corrosion monitor system had been designed. Findings From the feedback of wellbore corrosion monitor result, the corrosion rate was lower than 0.076 mm/a. Originality/value This anti-corrosion technique provides security for the development of gas field.

The aricle is about the pipe stick problems of deep well drilling. Pipe stick problem is one of the drilling problems. There are two types of pipe stick problems exist. One of them is differential pressure pipe sticking. Another one of them is mechanical pipe sticking. There are a lot of reasons for pipe stick problems. Indigators of differential pressure sticking are increase in torque and drug forces, inability to reciprocate drill string and uninterrupted drilling fluid circulation. Key words: pipe stick, mecanical pipe stick, difference of pressure, drill pipe, drilling mud, bottomhole pressure, formation pressure

A 16 km. long, 18” Gas pipeline (HP055) was in service to transport High Pressure Gas from an oil gathering center in West Kuwait (WK) area since 2001. The Pipeline carried wet sour gas. It was inspected in 2008 using high resolution MFL-ILI tool. No significant corrosion was found. In late 2012, a leak developed in the pipeline. The leak was due to a crack along a spiral weld on the bottom. Inspection during repairs revealed severe internal pitting on the bottom. The pipeline continued to leak several times in the next year, eventually resulting in decommissioning of the pipeline. Another ILI could not be carried out due to operational constraints and frequent leaks. The Pipeline was critical in the operation of the oil gathering center, and the loss of it severally affected the gas/oil export target and the flaring reduction commitment. An internal failure investigation was inconclusive, though indicating possibility of sulfide stress cracking. The failure investigation work was then entrusted to TWI, UK. A failed section of the pipeline was sent to their facilities and various tests including Chemical analysis, tensile test, residual stress measurement, SSC/HIC test, microstructure analysis, and analysis of corrosion products were carried out. The outcome of the tests and conclusion was very surprising. This paper describes in detail the leaks, inspection of leak locations, and the failure investigation findings and conclusions.

The technical problems existing in deep well drilling are becoming more and more predominant during the exploration and development of oil-gas field. The poor formation drillability, low drilling rate and complicated pressure system cause the underground accidents frequent, extend well construction cycle, and make the cost of the project much higher. Therefore, it is urgent to develop new technologies to improve the efficiency of the exploration and development in deep unconventional oil-gas reservoir. The particle jet technology is a new energy-saving way which has a broad application prospect. It can take the way of sucking in particles in annulus space to cycle use the particles, and promote the drilling rate. The feasibility of particle jet as a drilling medium is verified by the theoretical and experimental study, which provides the basis for the design of particle jet tool.
