It is one of the key technologies for the integration of CAD/CAM/CAPP to extract the geometric model information. Based on a systematic analysis and comprehension on the expression of STEP geometry model, the map between EXPRESS and C++ was studied. The module of map has been developed as a dynamic link library, which facilitated the expansion of system. In order to ensure the coherence and availability of collected data, a module for data acquisition has also been designed. The reading and analysis for STEP neutral file has been realized so that the geometry information in the STEP-based three-dimensional model could be extracted. Application illustration, which is used for supporting the slicing process in rapid prototyping, has been also presented. The method put forward in the paper is conducive to the integration of different CAX systems.

It discusses the development method of the direct slicing software using on three-dimensional model which can run in the Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0 environment. The author uses the secondary development tool Pro/TOOLKIT, which is used in Visual Studio 2008, to write the dynamic link library files which can run in the Pro/E environment with VC++ language. This paper provides the detailed analysis and discussion about the problems encountered in the course, and gives out the capable solutions.

Using the designed multi-tooth tool, a novel porous metal fiber sintered felt (PMFSF) with three-dimensional reticulated structure has been produced by solid-state sintering of copper fibers. The copper fibers were fabricated using the cutting method. According to the SEM results, it was found that there were two kinds of sintering joints of surface contact and crossing fiber meshing among the fibers in the PMFSF. The coarser sintering joints will help to enhance the mechanical strength of PMFSF. Based on the structure characteristic, a three-dimensional model with the cubic pore cell structure was established to describe the structure of PMFSF. In addition, the effectiveness of geometric model was verified by the test results of specific surface area of PMFSF.

The direct slicing software of three-dimensional model which can be run in the Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0 environment is successfully developed. The method is the use of the secondary development tool Pro/TOOLKIT, which is used in Visual Studio 2008, using VC++ language to write the dynamic link library files which can run in the Pro/E environment. The software realizes not only the function that direct slicing on three-dimensional models, but also the generation of NC code file through the use of custom class on slice and the Standard Template Library which save the three-dimensional contour data of each slice.

In this study, CAD/CAM system for a 5-axis printing machine was developed. The configuration of 5-axis printing machine is based on the 5-axis CNC milling machine; the spindle of the 5-axis CNC milling machine was replaced by a commercial printer. CAD software was first used to develop a three dimensional model, after that a color figure which will be printed on a freeform surface was applied on the surface of that three dimensional model. Then the printing paths of the 5-axis printing machine were generated by using mapping transformation. Furthermore, the distance between the print head and the curved printing surface is an important factor which affects the printing quality. It is also noted that any two points on the surface of the print head have different distances with the curved surface, it is necessary to keep these distances in a certain range of acceptable printing quality. Therefore, the range of good printing quality distance was measured. The height and width of the region which the print head print at one printing step were limited by the good printing quality distance. If the curvature of surface is too large (the distance between print head and curved surface is depend on the curvature of the surface), only the region which had good printing quality was printed. The unprinted area was printed after the print head rotated and translated to a proper position.

This paper takes the parallel indexing cam mechanism as research object and analyzes the formation of the profile of cam. On the basis of Visual C++6.0 object-oriented method, we have successfully developed the CAD/CAE/CAM system of parallel indexing cam mechanisms, which provides the parameter input dialogue frame with friendly interface. We can generate accurate profile data by using it, then create the three-dimensional model of the parallel indexing cam and assemble it with other parts under the Pro/E environment. At last, we don’t build virtual prototype until we transform the model into ADAMS through special interface Mechanism/Pro. Finally, this paper has researched the theory of contact and collision, carries out the motion simulation. We have received many valuable conclusions of practical application through all of the process.

An interactive computer program to design a mold cavity with the proper rigging system has been developed. In addition to the pattern and the risers generated as described in Part 1 of this work, the various components of the gating system are generated in complete three-dimensional models by a rational approach. Then they are laid interactively by the user, and united together with the pattern and the risers to result in the three-dimensional model of the mold assembly. Finally, the vents and the mold box are constructed following the user’s interactive specification and then the mold cavity is completed in a three-dimensional geometric model by subtracting the mold assembly and the vents from the mold box. The three-dimensional model of a mold cavity is useful for many related applications such as the solidification simulation for mold evaluation and the NC tool path generation for mold production.

In order to improve the training effect, according to the mechanical structure of switch machine, combined with unity3D engine, a set of automatic learning system for switch machine based on virtual reality technology is designed. It realizes the guided teaching of switch equipment ,such as structure composition, three-dimensional model demonstration of action process and virtual disassembly. The system significantly improves the quality of training.
