In 110kV railway traction the V/V connection transformers are common used. The distance protection performance for 110kV line connects to V/V traction transformer is analyzed in detail. Then some new advices on setting method for such kind of line protection calculation are proposed. This method is applied to several protection devices in Shandong power supply system. The operating result shows the accuracy of this method.

Traction load in electrified railway result in the power supply system contains a lot of negative sequence, harmonic and reactive current. It is necessary to analysis the compensation principle based on active compensation of electrified railway traction power supply system. According to the relation between primary winding and secondary winding of regular traction transformer, we deduced general voltage and general current transform formula, and then deduced completely and negative sequence compensation formulas. It also gives the method of reduce active compensation capacity.

Revamping of electrified railway traction power supply is to improve the railway transport capacity and important measures to promote the development of national economy. As a result of the traction power supply voltage was higher, the simulation technology was applied to modification of the traction power supply system. For the development of research workers to reduce risk and funding has become an international practice. Traction power supply system and the modeling and simulation of the traction power supply capacity technology are discussed in detail. It points out the simulation technology in the development direction of expansion engineering in the application of traction power supply.

The problem of reliability of relay protection systems and automation is considered. Based on the analysis results, for the construction of automation systems, a number of mathematical expressions have been proposed that allow at the design stage to assess the fault tolerance of the power supply system with the selected protection devices, thereby simplifying the process of choosing the most preferred system based on the obtained indicators.

The use of frequency-controlled electric drives in industry and municipal services is accompanied by the problem of their negative impact on the distribution network. As examples, the results of measurements of power quality indices in the power supply system of an oil producing enterprise and on the supply input of a railway traction substation are given. It is shown that the voltage subgroup total harmonic distortions (THDS) can exceed their rated permitted values in 100% of the measurement time.
