A novel colorimetric sensor based on BMPA derivative was designed and synthesized. The sensor displayed high selective and sensitive recognition of Cu2+in aqueous DMSO solution via an obvious color change from yellow to pink. The color change can be attribute to form a complex with Cu2+with C=O and N-H bonds. Based on this principle, an analytical method was developed and successfully used in the determination of the copper content in actual sample.

The sensor is based on the peroxidase-like activity of Au@PtNPs. Thiourea can quickly be detected by the color change of the solution. The method was applied to the determination of thiourea in practical samples.

The SPR of the AuNPs, synthesized by the reduction of gold ion with citrate and modified with L-cysteine was used as a novel analytical method for the detection and determination of drugs and species based on aggregation of Au-nanoparticles. However, multivariate calibration modeling of the SPR absorbance data by chemometrics method resulted in more accurate results out-comes so that the relative prediction errors were almost lower than 5%. In comparison with the available analytical methods for highly selective and sensitive ternary determination of tramadol, methadone and buprenorphine the proposed method is in need of lower amounts of reagents. Through increasing the concentration of the Opiate and Fluent material, a visible color change of AuNPs from wine red to blue was observed so the obvious color change was easily noticeable by naked eyes. However, multivariate calibration modelling and 3-d way methods that used for the SPR absorbance data by PARAFAC resulted in more accurate outcomes so that the software, as well as the chemometrics and the solvent kit, with great assurance our kit is unique. PARAFAC is a multi-way method originating from psychometrics. Due to various reasons such as high computational power, awareness of the method and its possibilities, the increased complexity complication of the data dealt with in science and industry, is gaining more attention in chemometrics and associated areas.

Three new chemodosimeters 1–3 were prepared, and their chromogenic and fluorogenic behaviours toward various metal cations were investigated. Receptors 1–3 show an exclusive response toward Hg2+ and also distinguish Hg2+ from other metal cations by different colour changes in aqueous DMSO solution. Among them, receptor 1 also exhibits a pronounced Hg2+-induced fluorescence enhancement. Therefore, the receptor 1 can be used as a colorimetric and fluorescent chemodosimeter for the determination of Hg2+ ion.

The photoluminescence of carbon quantum dots synthesized from natural honey and mixtures of honey and sugar has been studied. An increase in the sugar content leads to a decrease in the photoluminescence intensity without changing the shape of the luminescence spectrum of these quantum dots aqueous solutions, which is associated with a decrease in the yield of their synthesis in the sugar presence. The discovered effect can be used to detect sugar in honey. When examining five different market samples of flower honey using this method, two of them showed a significant decrease in the photoluminescence intensity. A laboratory test for compliance with GOST 19792-2017 Standard requirements established an excess of the sucrose content in these samples. Luminescent determination of sugar in honey does not require complicated equipment and can be used to develop a new analytical method for determining the sugar content in counterfeit natural honey.
