Vibration Control of Space Truss Structure with Viscoelastic Laminated Composite Damper

This paper works on the vibration control of the space truss structure. The damper made of viscoelastic composite was designed according to the configuration parameters of the truss structure. The parameters of damper were obtained by using the method of modal strain energy. The optimal position configuration of the damper was determined. The truss in the time domain and frequency domain was analyzed. The dynamic characteristics of three structures which are without damper, with damper in the random position configuration and with damper in the optimal position configuration were compared in the sweep excitation and pulse excitation. The result shows that the structure with damper in the optimal position configuration has a great improvement in the amplitude of vibration in the first resonance region and the amplitude attenuation of the truss. The space truss structure with viscoelastic composite damper has excellent vibration control effect.

Based on the characteristics of space truss structures, the concept of modal strain energy is introduced and square difference in elemental modal strain is presented. Through the square difference in elemental modal strain and wavelet transform, this paper presents a method for space truss structure damage recognition. The structural damage index is presented with the change of wavelet coefficients. Numerical simulation results show that: this method is effective to locate the single, multiple damages and light, severe damage with the first mode information. The preliminary tries for damage extent identification were made by the wavelet coefficients.

The fire protection method of steel space truss structures was researched. Fire protection methods of steel structures were listed. For steel space truss structures, the advantages and disadvantages of fire protection methods were introduced. The screen method was suitable for fire protection of steel space truss structures. One project of fire protection of steel space truss structure was shown as an example. The process of screen method was provided for fire protection of steel space truss structures. According to this project, the technology of fire protection of steel space truss structures was enriched. The research results could help to deal with fire protection of steel space truss structures.
