The post-pneumonectomy syndrome is a rare complication consisting of rotation and herniation of the mediastinal structures, the remaining lung and the respective bronchi, into the contralateral hemithorax. This situation may produce symptomatic airway obstruction and varies in its presentation and severity. We describe one case of right and one of left pneumonectomy syndrome as well as one case of post-lobectomy syndrome. We review the literature on the pathophysiology, the clinical, radiological and bronchoscopic characteristics of this rare entity and discuss all available therapeutic alternatives.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV 2) involving the respiratory tract started in 2019 in Wuhan, China but spread to almost all parts of the world to the extent that it was declared a pandemic by WHO. As more and more cases are detected, the involvement of systems other than respiratory was observed and nearly 5 to 50 % of patients have abdominal symptoms like pain and diarrhea. During the course of treatment, few patients developed a rare complication of gastrointestinal perforation. Three cases (two with colonic perforation and one with gastric perforation) of gastrointestinal perforation in COVID-19 positive patient are reported in the article with a review of the literature regarding the various hypothesis of intestinal perforation in these patients. Keywords: COVID-19; gastrointestinal perforation; severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV 2); Tocilizumab

Sarcoidosis is multisystem disease that has been amusing physicians since its discovery in 1989 by Caesar Boeck. More than 10,000 articles have been published in the literature by far, and each time it affects a new organ. Involvement of bone has been recently discovered and because it is still a rare entity, it is important to focus on the presenting systems and also to be able to differentiate it from other closely related diseases including but not limited to tumor and other infectious processes. We describe two cases of osseous sarcoma in two relatively young but surprisingly asymptomatic patients.

Laryngocele is a rare entity and can be defined as an abnormal cystic dilatation of saccule of the laryngeal ventricle with communication to the lumen of larynx. Laryngopyocele is a rare complication of laryngocele when it is infected. Patients may present with fever, neck swelling, shortness of breath, and hoarseness. Acute presentation can develop rapidly with alarming symptom, such as stridor, which signifies airway obstruction and warrants immediate treatment and airway protection. Computed tomography and endoscopy are useful in making the diagnosis and delineate the severity of disease. Laryngopyocele should be treated with antibiotics, drainage of purulent content, and followed by definitive surgical excision.

Pediatric tibial nonunion following corrective osteotomy is a rare complication that is not well understood. While adult nonunions have been linked to endocrine and metabolic aberrations, this has not been established in a pediatric population. Pediatric tibial nonunion has been shown to respond to debridement with revision fixation using dynamic compression plating, supplementary bone graft, and fibular osteotomy to allow compression. Necessity of referral for metabolic and endocrinology workup remains unclear in the pediatric population, though inflammatory markers should be obtained in each case to rule out infection. We present three consecutive cases of pediatric tibial nonunion following osteotomy over a five-year period and discuss the management.
