Cloud Computing has offered many services to organizations and individuals. The emerging types of services such as analytics, mobile services and emerging software as a service have been offered but there is a lack of analysis on the current status. Core technologies for emerging Cloud services have been identified and presented. This brief opinion paper provides an overview of the current emerging Cloud services and explains the benefits for several disciplines. Four areas have been identified that may bring in more positive impacts for the future direction.

Cloud computing is a relatively new concept that is attracting much attention from both small businesses and CEOs of large corporations. However, for the novitiate, the decision to implement a cloud computing service and then how to manage it is not straightforward because there is no universal road map. In this review several issues are discussed that should have a bearing on how to bring cloud computing into a business organization and how it should be managed. These issues include, the elasticity performance of cloud computing, the lack of standards in cloud computing, whether cloud computing should be sole sourced, security issues, legal and regulatory compliance of data that may cross national borders, and what the function of the IT department should be in this venture.

The main purpose of the present paper is to analyse the various definitions of cloud computing proposed by different researchers and, using content analysis methodology, and establish areas of “agreement” and to construct such a “general” definition of cloud computing in business perspective. The paper attempts to compare the definitions of cloud computing by academicians and industy experts. This paper is divided into three sections. In the first section, content analysis methodology used on cloud computing definitions is presented. The second section highlights the key words in 36 definitions of cloud computing and tabulates the definitions through a categorization of substantive terms. The last section discusses the results of research methodology followed by conclusion and limitations.
