In our previous study, loosening-fatigue tests under small transverse vibrations had been performed to elucidate bolt behavior and loosening-fatigue mechanism in the long life region. In this study, the influences of bolt property class and the plastic region tightening on loosening-fatigue characteristics under transverse vibration have been investigated. Result shows that bolt property class has little influence on the loosening-fatigue limits under transverse vibration. Result also shows that the transverse loosening-fatigue limit of the bolt which has been tightened to within the plastic region is lower than the transverse loosening-fatigue limit of the bolt that has been tightened to within the elastic region. This result is the opposite of the result of the axial fatigue characteristics of bolted joints.

This article discusses the analysis of the general equations of the transverse vibration of a piecewise homogeneous viscoelastic plate obtained in the “Oscillation of inlayer plates of constant thickness” [1]. In the present work on the basis of a mathematical method, the approached theory of fluctuation of the two-layer plates, based on plate consideration as three dimensional body, on exact statement of a three dimensional mathematical regional problem of fluctuation is stood at the external efforts causing cross-section fluctuations. The general equations of fluctuations of piecewise homogeneous viscoelastic plates of the constant thickness, described in work [1], are difficult on structure and contain derivatives of any order on coordinates x, y and time t and consequently are not suitable for the decision of applied problems and carrying out of engineering calculations. For the decision of applied problems instead of the general equations it is expedient to use confidants who include this or that final order on derivatives. The classical equations of cross-section fluctuation of a plate contain derivatives not above 4th order, and for piecewise homogeneous or two-layer plates the elementary approached equation of fluctuation is the equation of the sixth order. On the basis of the analytical decision of a problem the general and approached decisions of a problem are under construction, are deduced the equation of fluctuation of piecewise homogeneous two-layer plates taking into account rigid contact on border between layers, and also taking into account mechanical and rheological properties of a material of a plate. The received theoretical results for the decision of dynamic problems of cross-section fluctuation of piecewise homogeneous two-layer plates of a constant thickness taking into account viscous properties of their material allow to count more precisely the is intense-deformed status of plates at non-stationary external loadings.

One of the main factors that determine the resistance of blade working bodies against damage under dynamic loads is their resistance to plastic crumpling, brittle or fatigue failure. Hard alloys that strengthen the blades of tillage parts are more brittle materials than steel, so the blunting of their edges is caused by the formation of cracks, their gradual growth or microchipping, even from a possible single impact of a solid inclusion in the soil. In addition to the usual brittle fracture of hard alloys, fatigue failure occurs under cyclic impact conditions. (Research purpose) The research purpose is in identifying the pattern of destruction of the blade edge of soil-cutting parts of forestry machines and theoretically justifying the algorithm for assessing the strength to determine the rational thickness of the wear-resistant coating during hardening. (Materials and methods) The article presents the main regularities of the influence of material properties and geometric parameters of the blade on the radius of rounding. (Results and discussion) The process of breaking the edge of the blade of hardened working bodies of forestry machines has been studied. The claim that the blunting of the blades is mainly due to its destruction and not to wear has been proved. The article presents a method for evaluating the strength of bimetallic blades of soil-cutting parts of forestry machines. It was found that the blunting of the blade occurs as a result of edge destruction in the process of multiple impacts of solid soil inclusions along the edge of the blade. (Conclusions) The article shows that the destruction of the edge of the blade leads to blunting of soil-cutting parts, which affects their performance. It was found that the sharpness of a self-sharpening hardened blade is determined by the thickness of the reinforcing layer and its ability to resist destruction under impact.
