AbstractThe successful implementation of smart metering in the European Union (hereinafter – EU) depends on criteria that are mostly determined by the Member States themselves. These criteria cover the regulatory framework and legislation necessary for the establishment and functioning of the smart metering system, the fulfilment of technical and commercial conditions, as well as the security of data collection, archiving and use. The introduction of the smart metering in different Member States has started at different times. In Latvia, its reference point was 2004, when the goal was set to maximise the use of telemetry in the natural gas metering. Currently, in the Latvian natural gas distribution system about 85 % of all consumption data are automatically processed. One of the most important components of the smart natural gas metering is natural gas commercial metering devices (hereinafter – smart meters). They differ in both the principle and type of operation. Depending on the technology used, the metering range changes, and thus the accuracy of the measurements. The article addresses some issues of further successful implementation of smart metering in the Latvian natural gas sector, as well as the measurement accuracy for smart natural gas meters.

This paper proposes taking into account new properties of gas supply systems in a mathematical model of flow distribution in comparison with the traditional formulation. The approach suggests introducing an arc coefficient, which allows for changes in the magnitude of gas flow passing along the arc, a vector of an increase in the arc throughput, and lower constraints on the gas flow along the arc. We also propose considering a new economic environment, namely, new criteria for optimizing the flow distribution and setting fictitious gas prices for consumers. These criteria enable us to take account of the priority gas supply to a definite group of consumers. As an example, the calculation of gas flows for the aggregated Unified Gas Supply System (UGSS) for 2030 is considered. This calculation takes into account the arc coefficients and the increase in the throughput of arcs.

The textbook gives the basic concepts of gasified heat generating (boiler) installations and the terminology used in boiler technology, the principle of operation and device of gasified heat generating (boiler) installations. The types and device of heat generators (boilers) of their furnace devices are considered; types and device of gas-burning devices, the number and places of their installation in furnace devices; auxiliary equipment-devices for air supply and removal of combustion products, devices for water treatment, steam supply and circulation of the coolant of hot water boilers; device for thermal control and automatic regulation of the boiler installation. The issues of operation and efficiency of gasified heat generating (boiler) installations and their gas supply systems; requirements for conducting gas-hazardous and emergency recovery operations of gas supply systems are considered. Meets the requirements of the federal state educational standards of secondary vocational education of the latest generation. For students of secondary vocational education in the specialty 08.02.08 "Installation and operation of equipment and gas supply systems".
