Changes to Australian copyright law introduced under the Australia–United States Free Trade Agreement will diminish the public domain, criminalise common copyright infringing practices and locally introduce significant portions of the controversial 1998 American Digital Millennium Copyright Act. This paper examines these imminent changes to Australian copyright law, with specific attention to the potential effects of the extended duration of copyright protection and the introduction of technological anti-circumvention measures. It argues that public domain-enhancing activities are crucial for sustaining cultural creativity and technological innovation, and discusses the potential role of the Creative Commons movement in establishing economically viable and legal alternatives to the current model of trade-oriented copyright reform.

The current information environment presents opportunities for sharing information and enhancing the public domain of creative resources for education, research and the public good. Because the sharing paradigm for digital resources is fundamentally different from any we experienced in the analog world, practices of non-profit cultural heritage collecting institutions should be re-examined and re-evaluated with respect to aligning mission with new opportunities. One practice that deserves attention, particularly in this new environment, is the continued assertion of intellectual property rights in images of creative works that are themselves in the public domain.

Purpose – The purpose of this article is to investigate whether the reversal to the public domain of assets owned by the current service provider, in the context of concession of public telecommunications service, is still the only, or even better, way to achieve the objectives it aims, especially the continuity of the service, in relation to the theoretical framework of Ayres and Braithwaite’s Theory of Responsive Regulation. Methodology/approach/design – The research will consider the structuring statutes of the telecommunications sector, the secondary norms produced by Anatel, as well as national and foreign literature on the subject. Findings – After analyzing the doctrinal and normative framework on the subject of reversible assets in the telecommunications sector in light of the Responsive Theory of Regulation, it is believed that it will be possible to discern solutions that best fit the analyzed Theory, and there are many arguments against the preservation of the current model, which does not incorporate adequate regulatory modeling to address the issue.

Calcification in the echinoderms occurs within a limited-volume cavity enclosed by cytoplasmic extensions of the mineral depositing cells, the sclerocytes. The current model of this process maintains that the sheath formed from these cytoplasmic extensions is syncytial. Prior studies indicate that syncytium formation might be dependent on sclerocyte density and not required for calcification. This model further envisions that ossicles formed de novo nucleate and grow intracellularly until the ossicle effectively outgrows the vacuole. Continued ossicle growth occurs within the sheath but external to the cell membrane. The initial intracellular location has been confirmed only for elements of the echinoid tooth.The regenerating aboral disc integument of ophiophragmus filograneus was used to test the current echinoderm calcification model. This tissue is free of calcite fragments, thus avoiding questions of cellular engulfment, and ossicles are formed de novo. The tissue calcification pattern was followed by light microscopy in both living and fixed preparations.

Obtaining dietetic licensure in Ontario requires completion of a Dietitians of Canada (DC) accredited four-year undergraduate degree in nutrition and an accredited post-graduate internship or combined Master’s degree program. Given the scarcity of internship positions in Ontario, each year approximately two-thirds of the eligible applicants who apply do not receive a position XX, XX, XX, XX, XX, XX, in press). Anecdotally, not securing an internship position is known to be a particularly disconcerting experience that has significant consequences for individuals’ personal, financial, and professional well-being. However, no known empirical research has yet explored students’ experiences of being unsuccessful in applying for internship positions. Fifteen individuals who applied between 2005 and 2009 to an Ontario-based dietetic internship program, but were unsuccessful at least once, participated in a one-on-one semi-structured interview. Findings reveal that participants’ experiences unfold successively in four phases that are characterized by increasingly heightened emotional peril: naïveté, competition, devastation, and frustration. The authors conclude that the current model of dietetic education and training in Ontario causes lasting distress to students and hinders the future growth and vitality of the dietetic profession. Further research is required to understand the impact of the current model on dietetic educators, internship coordinators, and preceptors as coincident participants in the internship application process.

Abstract. Locus of control is one of the personality characteristics possessed by humans. Locus of control can be divided into two, namely internal locus of control and external locus of control. Locus of control is a predictor of several other variables, such as learning achievement. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of locus of control with learning achievement. This research uses descriptive and correlational methods. The instrument filling is done online by using the google form application considering the increasing spread of COVID-19. Finally, as many as 36 students participated in filling this instrument. In this study, researchers used the Rotters Internal-External Locus of Control (IE Scale) inventory consisting of 29 items, of which there were 6 filler items, so that the total number of items that could be processed was 23 items, while to see learning achievement using the Grade Point Average (GPA) that researchers get from the Academic Information System (SIAKAD). Research findings show that locus of control has a strong negative relationship with student learning achievement. We advise students to have an internal locus of control while continuing to believe in God; The counselor is expected to be able to arrange an intervention program for students who have an external locus of control and have low learning achievement.
