Determining the pathogenesis of pediatric growth disorders is often challenging. In many cases, no pathogenesis is identified, and a designation of idiopathic short stature is used. The investigation of short stature requires a combination of clinical, endocrinological, and genetic evaluation. The techniques used are described, with equal importance being given to each of the 3 approaches. Clinical skills are essential to elicit an accurate history, family pedigree, and symptoms of body system dysfunction. Endocrine assessment requires hormonal determination for the diagnosis of hormone deficiency and initiation of successful replacement therapy. Genetic analysis has added a new dimension to the investigation of short stature and now uses next-generation sequencing with a candidate gene approach to confirm probable recognizable monogenic disorders and exome sequencing for complex phenotypes of unknown origin. Using the 3 approaches of clinical, endocrine, and genetic probes with equal status in the hierarchy of investigational variables provides the clinician with the highest chance of identifying the correct causative pathogenetic mechanism in a child presenting with short stature of unknown origin.

Performance assessment is a part of career growth. Performance appraisals a required and beneficial process, which offers annual feedback to staff members about job efficiency and career guidance. Significance. Improving quality and availability of palliative care for children with severe refractory diseases is one of the main objectives of the federal and reginal authorities. The efforts are focused on improving quality of patients’ life, increasing satisfaction of patients (their legal representatives) and families with availability of palliative care, that relieves suffering of patients and reduces symptoms of depression. Purpose of the study. To analyze modern forms and methods of palliative care delivery to children with severe refractory diseases. Material and methods. The authors have conducted a content analysis of scientific publications on organization of palliative care delivery to children with severe refractory diseases. A total of 153 publications were analyzed, including 141 foreign publications for the period from 1998 to the second quarter of 2020. A total of 44 publications have been selected for the analytical review including 28 publications from the international Scopus database, 12 – from the Russian scientific citation index database, including 7 publications from the list of VAK journals (Higher Attestation Commission Journals), and 4 - materials of international medical organizations (WHO, WHA, AHA, European Council). Results. Children with severe refractory diseases need specialized medical, psychological and social assistance. Palliative care includes active and comprehensive support for physical, psychological, social and spiritual well-being of these children, relieving their suffering, from diagnosis to outcome, reducing symptoms of depression in their families, ensuring the best quality of life. More than 21 million children worldwide require palliative care every year, ranging from 20 to 120 per 10,000 children around the world. However, palliative care is often discussed in the late stages of the disease, not always resulting in its early initiation, only little more than half the patients in need receive palliative care, there are differences in tools for assessing care results. It is necessary to early initiate palliative care, increase volumes of its provision, increase the number of specialists and institutions involved in palliative care delivery, as well as implement a comprehensive balanced assessment of care results.

The Internet has changed the world in many ways. Online communications, financial and business-to-business transactions, electronic shopping, banking, and entertainment have become the norm in the digital age. The combined package of technologies that comprise the Internet—the information superhighway—have made all of this possible. The aging technological infrastructure that supports these webs of interconnected networks is being stressed to its performance limits. Recent advances in the backbone infrastructure that supports the Internet have helped alleviate some of these problems, but more challenges lie ahead for solving technology-related performance bottlenecks for many online applications, including high-definition interactive gaming. In this paper, the authors developed a technology assessment through multiple perspectives. While different components of the technology such as applications, protocols and network components are identified, other impact areas such as market and management are also evaluated. Elements of user behavior are evaluated within the market perspective. Evaluating technologies through these dimensions concurrently provides a balanced assessment among technical, economical, social and political factors.

In summer 2017, Long Beach Unified School District partnered with Khan Academy to support pilot teachers in their implementation of Khan Academy in the classroom. This study examined how the use of Khan Academy in the middle school mathematics classroom relates to student achievement on the mathematics portion of the state standardized assessment. Results indicated that students who used Khan Academy for more than 30 minutes a week, the recommended usage time, scored an additional 22 points (0.20 standard deviation units) on the 2018 mathematics portion of the Smarter Balanced Assessment, compared to students who did not use Khan Academy. Additionally, these results hold true regardless of race/ethnicity, gender, eligibility for free/reduced lunch, or English learner status.

This chapter explains the literary theory that bridge the divides between national traditions in a balanced assessment of similarities and differences called “perspectivism.” It addresses the question of comparability that grew sharper during the 1980s as comparatists began to give more attention to non-Western literatures and struggled to locate their studies along an expanded spectrum. It also analyzes Claudio Guillén's Entre louno y lo diverso, which asserts the necessity of keeping in mind the constant to and fro between the unity sought by human consciousness and the countless historical–spatial differentiations in the field of literature. The chapter looks into an essay by Robert Magliola that asserts a close comparability of sexualized religious iconography in the European Renaissance and in tantric Buddhism. It also talks about Pauline Yu's “Alienation Effects” as a skeptical discussion of the limits of East/West comparability.
