With the help of the automated system for the classification of carcasses of pigs, AutoFOM ultrasound have been processed 56682 carcasses of slaughter pigs with an average carcass weight of 94.3 kg. The mass and yield of muscle tissue from the main cuts in the carcass is shown. Correlation coefficients between the mass and the content of muscle tissue in the carcass and the main (premium) cuts (ham, neck, shoulder, belly, and loin) were studied. It is shown how the increase in the weight of each of the cuts affects the content of muscle tissue in the carcass and in the cut. For example, it was found that when the weight of the belly is increased by 10 kg (from 6 to 16 kg), the percentage of muscle tissue from carcass is reduced by 3.3% (from 54.5 to 51.8%), which is approximately 0.33% for 1 kg of additional weight of the belly. With an increase in the weight of the loin from 4 to 14 kg, the yield of muscle tissue from the carcass on the contrary increased by 11.6%, i.е. 1.16% for each additional kg of loin weight. A value (in absolute and relative units) of the main cuts is given. The conclusion is made about the prospects of using the obtained data in the creation of a specialized terminal line of pigs, characterized by an increased content of weight of premium cuts in the carcass.ContributionAll authors bear responsibility for the work and presented data. This paper analyzes the impact of genes and proportional contribution of parental genotypes on the inheritance of root yield and sugar content in diploid hybrids of sugar beet. The survey included two diploid male-sterile monogerm lines and three single (SC) male-sterile hybrids as maternal components, while three multigerm diploids were used as pollinators. The partitioning of genotypic variance into additive and dominant components was performed by half sibling (HS) and full sibling (FS) covariance. The proportional contribution of individual components of crossbreeding (lines, testers, and interactions) was exhibited in the expression of certain characteristics of F1generation. Genotypic variance components showed a significant effect of nonadditive gene action (dominance) in the inheritance of root yield and sugar content, while the additive effect of genes was less significant. Maternal components had a greater proportional contribution to root yield, while lines, pollinators, and their interactions had an equal contribution to sugar content.

While sex can be advantageous for a lineage in the long term, we still lack an explanation for its maintenance with the twofold cost per generation. Here we model an infinite diploid population where two autosomal loci determine, respectively, the reproductive mode, sexual versus asexual and the mating system, polygynous (costly sex) versus monogamous (assuming equal contribution of parents to offspring, i.e. non-costly sex). We show that alleles for costly sex can spread when non-costly sexual modes buffer the interaction between asexual and costly sexual strategies, even without twofold benefit of recombination with respect to asexuality. The three interacting strategies have intransitive fitness relationships leading to a rock–paper–scissors dynamics, so that alleles for costly sex cannot be eliminated by asexuals in most situations throughout the parameter space. Our results indicate that sexual lineages with variable mating systems can resist the invasion of asexuals and allow for long-term effects to accumulate, thus providing a solution to the persisting theoretical question of why sex was not displaced by asexuality along evolution.

To facilitate the design of the serialized implants and to satisfy the requirements of the population, a novel method is put forward for constructing an average bone model (ABM) with semantic parameters as a template. First, the ABM is created from the existing bone models, among which each bone has an equal contribution to the ABM. Second, combined with medical semantics, some characteristic points and semantic parameters are defined on the ABM, and then, parameter values for each bone can be automatically obtained through its registration and deformation to the ABM. Finally, an average bone template (ABT) is constructed by configuring the semantic parameters and by building the constraints between parameters. Taking 100 femur models as samples, we construct the ABT, and the template can be easily extended to generate a new average template through the given average equation.

SUMMARYIt is shown that, in a finite population, by ensuring an equal contribution of offspring from each family we achieve a higher selection limit than by using mass selection, given that the correlation between selection criterion and additive genetic value is sufficiently high. The difference between the selection limits of the two schemes increases with more intense selection. The theoretical results were verified by Monte Carlo Simulation, and the influences of several factors were investigated. It is shown that such a breeding scheme might be useful in dairy cattle.

Upwelling events analysis in southern coast of Java and Banda sea were conducted. The events were identified by using satellite data i.e. wind surface, Sea Surface Temperature (SST) and ocean color during period of 14 years (2002-2016) which calculated by Ekman pumping and Ekman transport. It’s found that Ekman pumping velocity in Banda Sea reached a maximum in June-July-August (JJA) by approximately 3,65x10 -6 . Comparing with Ekman transport, Ekman pumping makes an even greater contribution to the local upwelling in Banda Sea. Ekman pumping velocity in southern coast of Java reached a maximum in June-July-August (JJA) by approximately 4,9x10 -1 ms . Ekman pumping and Ekman transport makes an equal contribution to coastal upwelling in southern coast of Java. That’s related to highest clorophyll-a concentration apperars in JJA periode. Partial correlation analysis then was applied to identify a correlation between chlorophyll-a concentration and interannual climate variabilities such as ENSO and IOD. Partial Correlation between chlorophyll-a and Nino 3.4 and DMI-Dipole Mode Index (controlled) in Banda Sea is 0.18, and 0.05 in southercoast of Java. It’s represent ENSO (Elnino Southern Oscilation) has higher influences to Banda Sea than southern coast of Java. Partial correlation between chlorophyll-a and DMI and Nino 3.4 (controlled) is 0.55 in southern coast of Java, and 0.25 in Banda Sea. Its represent IOD (Indian Ocean Dipole) has higher influences to southern coast of Java than Banda Sea. Upwelling in Banda sea and along southern coast of Java dominantly occurs in southeast monsoon as a responds to regional wind driven motion associated with the monsoon climate. Various condition of chlorophyll-a booming also occured according to combination of ENSO and IOD events. -6 -1 msKeywords: upwelling, Banda sea, southern coast of Java, Ekman transport, Ekman pumping, IOD, ENSO
