This article analyzes how the Poles and Jews who disappeared from the western Ukrainian city of L'viv as a result of the Second World War are remembered in the city today. It examines a range of commemorative practices, from monuments and museums to themed cafes and literature, and analyzes how these practices interact to produce competing mnemonic narratives. In this respect, the article argues for an understanding of the city as a complex text consisting of a diverse range of mutually interdependent mnemonic media produced by a range of actors. The article focuses in particular on the ways in which Ukrainian nationalist narratives interact with the memory of the city's “lost others.” The article also seeks to understand L'viv‘s memory culture through comparison with a range of Polish cities that have faced similar problems with commemorating vanished communities, but have witnessed a deeper recognition of these communities than has been the case in L'viv. The article proposes reasons for the divergences between the memory cultures of L'viv and that found in Polish cities, and attempts to outline the gradual processes by which L'viv‘s Polish and Jewish pasts might become more widely integrated into the city's memory culture.

In this study, we use questionnaires, interviews and some other research methods to investigate the implementation outcome of the household appliance ‘Old for New’ trade-in program (hereafter the trade-in program), and apply the methods of comparative analysis and stakeholder analysis to evaluate the program. This paper, taking the city of Nanjing as an example, aims to provide insights to these questions, and more significantly, to advance some practical and efficient suggestions as how to formulate a reasonable, efficient waste household appliances (hereafter WHA) recycling system in Nanjing.

Introduction. Biometeorological circumstances have a big influence on all traffic participants, especially reflexes, moving coordination and perception ability. With a lower attention and drivers? and pedestrians? concentration, there was a larger amount of pedestrian trauma in certain biometeorological phases. Objective. The aim of this study was to establish the correlation between pedestrian trauma and biometeorological phases. Methods. The comparative analysis of everyday biometeorological phases for the city of Kragujevac determined by RHMI and the evidence of knocked-down pedestrians from the Kragujevac traffic police for the period 2003-2008. Results. There were 6,127 accidents, with 696 knocked pedestrians in 666 (10.87%) accidents. Most of them happened in 2003 (135), and the fewest in 2005 (90). Most accidents were during December (74), the fewest were in June (46). The fewest accidents were during 04-05-06 hour interval (by 2), most during 13-14 hours (61). There were 374 males and 349 females. Most of the males (by 60) were 0-10 and 11-20 years old, most of the females (74) were 11-20 years old. There were 443 pedestrians who suffered slight body injuries (112 were 11-20), 225 suffered heavy and 28 had lethal injuries (most over 70). As provokers, the pedestrians suffered because of improper crossing roads (185), while as a casualties, they suffered due to speeding of vechicles (285). Most accidents happened in biometeorological phases 4 (168) and 9 (151), the fewest in phase 10 (4). Conclussion. Statistical analysis shows a significant correlation between pedestrians? accidents and biometeorological phases, when the most accidents occurred during penetrations of cold fronts, while there was a sudden switch of weather conditions from warm-dry to cold-wet weather.

Comparative analysis of cluster instruments for economic development of Ukraine and Vietnam is carried out. The study showed that the absolute majority of the clusters operating in Ukraine have significant strategic gaps between strategic goals and resources for their implementation. In order to eliminate strategic gaps, a set of practical recommendations has been substantiated, which generally consists of the following main elements: inclusion in the current legislation of the concept of "innovative industrial cluster of the sixth technological order"; providing the subjects of such clusters with innovative tax benefits; provision of concessional lending for intra-cluster innovation projects. In terms of the effectiveness of the use of cluster instruments for economic development, Vietnam is significantly ahead of Ukraine. The highest efficiency of cluster development was achieved in Vietnam for fourteen of the sixteen positions we analyzed, and in Ukraine, the highest efficiency was not achieved for any position. For each of the ten cluster instruments of economic development that are not used in Ukraine, we substantiated the feasibility and effectiveness of their implementation in our state. In order to introduce each of the most important cluster instruments of economic development, an appropriate legislative framework should be created in Ukraine, as well as a system of by-laws for its practical implementation. Vietnam has been well done in the cluster industrial policy. To the end of 2020, there are 260 industrial parks in the whole country (besides, there are some industrial parks acquired licensing but not yet constructed or having planned but not yet approved). Hanoi plans to build 43 industrial clusters in 2021. To ensure efficient operation of industrial clusters, Hanoi would provide supporting policies for enterprises and business households relocating their operation into industrial clusters, while setting up a list of service fees for all industrial clusters in the city. Hanoi plans to further promote investment and higher occupancy rate in industrial clusters, gradually transforming the current management model towards greater efficiency in operation of industrial clusters.

Attempt of comparative analysis of the segetal flora of Siedlce City with similar flora of areas of arable lands of the Siedlce Upland is presented in the paper. Received results show the larger value for urban flora of apophitysm coefficient - 63,3% (61% for Upland), flora modernization - 0,52 (0,42 for Upland) and flora lability - 19 (15 for Upland). On the other hand segetal flora of the Siedlce Upland is characterised by larger synanthropization coefficient - 104 (93 for the city). As to other differences, considerable larger participation of perennial species in the flora of the city (45,5% Siedlce; 37,1% Upland) is noteworthy. Moreover the occurrence of juvenile forms of arborescent species and plants running wild from gardens and parks, e.g.: Mathiola incana, Aesculus hippocastanus, Sedum reflexum, Nigella damascena, Helianthus tuberosus among species weeding urban cultivation is clearly noticeable.

Currently, the most popular are the express methods of quality control of the environment, which permit a relatively rapid assessment of ecological and geochemical situation. one such method is based on the use snow cover. snow has a high sorption capacity and is informative in identifying the object of man-made pollution of the urban environment. the paper presents the results of a study of the chemical composition of snow that had fallen in Voronezh during winter 2015. snow samples were taken in the period prior to snowmelt in various functional areas of the city. in order to identify the degree of technogenic impact on the various parts of the city of Voronezh, was made a comparative analysis of the results:аccording to the actual presence of pollutants in precipitation for the study of functional areas;сalculate the rate on the concentration of chemical elements for test samples of snow.according to the degree of mineralization and dust content in snow can be seen technogenic pressure on environment.therefore, a comparative analysis of the degree of contamination of snow in the various functional areas of the city were carried out for the two indicators of the chemical composition - the total mineralization and suspended particles(dust).the results of the analysis of the chemical composition of the melt water indicate an increased level of technogenic pollution of snow cover in all investigated functional areas of Voronezh.

Other than the descriptive value and the possible function of guiding web professionals and institutional communication managers of the city, the results presented in this chapter have a historical value (given the volatility and dynamicity of web sites, like many other Internet environments) with respect to the evolution towards web 2.0 scenarios, assuming a particular interest for further comparative analysis with 2010 web sites, currently under investigation.

The chapter focuses on two law enforcement institutions. The first is the police, one of the most visible state actors in the city and a recurrent choice for dealing with community noise. The second institution is the Urban Silence Program (Programa de Silêncio Urbano, or PSIU), a municipal agency created in 1994. After tracing the administrative flows inside the police and the PSIU, I suggest a comparative analysis of the two institutions. By following sound as it circulates within each of these governmental bodies, I argue that, different than the groups considered so far, the main concern for the executive branch is not so much ontological or epistemological issues surrounding noise, but rather consolidating (1) legal-bureaucratic stability, (2) budgetary principles, and (3) political party affiliations.

Study of the relation between urban density and social equity has been based mostly upon comparative analysis at the city level. It therefore fails to address variations in intra-urban experience and sheds no light on the process of urban densification. Incremental residential development is particularly poorly recorded and under-researched, yet cumulatively it makes a substantial contribution to the supply of dwellings. The article presents a detailed examination of this form of development in England between 2001 and 2011, and considers its impact on urban spatial justice. We find that the incidence of soft residential densification was very uneven. It had disproportionately large effects on neighbourhoods that were already densely developed and that were characterised by lower income households with access to relatively little residential space. It thus contributed to an increase in the level of inequality in the distribution of residential space, increasing socio-spatial injustice.
