Dento-maxillary anomalies are relatively widespread among the population, eventually leading to serious psychological and lifestyle deterioration. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the complex orthodontic-surgical treatment in the dento-maxillary anomaly class III Angle. We aim to present the clinical case of a female patient suffering from skeletal third-class, gnathic form, who came to „Omni Dent” clinic in order to complete the second stage of associate orthodontic and surgical treatment. Medical investigations: OPG, CBCT, TRG, digital scanning, dental photography, digital programs, used at collecting data for virtual planning, establishing a complex diagnosis and choosing the best surgical technique for this case, subsequently, with the transfer of the virtual plan in the operating room through surgical guides and occlusal splints. Postoperatively, there was an obvious improvement of the facial appearance, supported by the comparison of pre- and postoperative cephalometric indices: SNA (from 76,6° to 84°), SNB (from 80,6° to 78,8°), ANB (from -4° to 5,2°), Wits (from -9,6° to 0°). Early diagnosis and detailed planning by using modern methods of examination may ensure an efficient rehabilitation of patients suffering from dento-maxillary anomalies.

A clinical case of surgical treatment of a patient with atherosclerotic combined lesions of the coronary and carotid areas is presented. A staged surgery was performed. The first stage was carotid endarterectomy sequentially on both sides. The second stage is three-vessel coronary artery bypass grafting. The patient was examined 2 years after the operation. There are no data on restenosis of the reconstruction zone of the carotid system. The return of angina pectoris is not noted.

Dental surgeons need in-depth knowledge of the bone tissue status and gingival morphology of atrophic maxillae. The aim of this study is to describe preoperative virtual planning of placement of five implants and to compare the plan with the actual surgical results. Three-dimensional planning of rehabilitation using software programs enables surgical guides to be specially designed for the implant site and manufactured using 3D printing. A patient with five teeth missing was selected for this study. The patient’s maxillary region was scanned with CBCT and a cast model was produced. After virtual planning using ImplantViewer, five implants were placed using a printed surgical guide. Two weeks after the surgical procedure, the patient underwent another CBCT scan of the maxilla. Statistically significant differences were detected between the virtually planned positions and the actual positions of the implants, with a mean deviation of 0.36 mm in the cervical region and 0.7 mm in the apical region. The surgical technique used enables more accurate procedures when compared to the conventional technique. Implants can be better positioned, with a high level of predictability, reducing both operating time and patient discomfort.

A clinical case of successful surgical treatment of a patient with a giant cervical retrosternal nontoxic goiter with severe cardiac pathology is presented. Thyroidectomy from cervical access without sternotomy was performed. At the follow-up examination 5 months after the operation, instrumental and clinical signs of disease relapse were not detected.

Most reported cases of middle ear adenoma (MEA) have focused on histopathology because MEA is usually diagnosed postoperatively, which is considered as a major setback. We focused on the surgical aspect of the disease to facilitate a preoperative diagnosis, resulting in prompt and proper treatment, without requiring a second stage of surgical treatment. In this report, we present the differential diagnoses in a 40-year-old man with MEA requiring surgical treatment. Preoperatively, the patient was suspected to have an MEA. An analysis of the surgical procedures in similar misdiagnosed tumors has enabled us to assess surgical procedures in cases wherein the preoperative diagnosis does not coincide with the postoperative histopathological results.

Surgical treatment of bilateral temporal lobe pharmacoresistant epilepsy is associated with some difficulties: particularly, the lack of stereotypical clinical picture in the same patient and controversial data on modern methods of diagnostics — all these statements make identifying epileptogenic zone more difficult and lack of clear criteria for the selection of patients for surgical treatment. In this review, issues of aetiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations and criteria for the selection for surgical treatment suggested by different authors are presented.
