Impact of Internet Aided Self-Managed Teams On Quality of Work-Life and Performance
The impact of participation in an Internet aided self-managed (IASM) teamsprogram on employee quality of work life attitudes, and on performance was studiedamong employees in a manufacturing firm for a 36-month period. The attitudinalresults indicate that IASM teams improved participants' quality of work life. Theperformance results document a positive and substantial impact on employeeproductivity, efficiency, quality, and overall performance. However, implementationof IASM teams is a complex task that requires time and commitment of resources toreap potential rewards. In addition, the research findings suggest that using thisprogram gives employees the authority to act and make decisions on their own, makingtheir jobs more demanding and challenging at the same time.
