Since water storage, earthquakes occurred in Badong County, Hubei Province, accounted for as much as one-third of the strong earthquakes in the Three Gorges Reservoir area. For example, the MS5.1 earthquake occurred in December 2013 near the Gaoqiao fault in Badong County. The earthquake time, magnitude, and location analysis showed that reservoir earthquakes in this area exhibited some characteristics, such as periodicity, migration, and deep extension. Based on the regional stratum lithology and structural characteristics, this paper designed a curved joint on a small scale to simulate the structural morphology of the Gaoqiao fault and carried out triaxial compression tests under different immersion times to analyze the morphological parameters of the joint surface. The results showed that topological parameters such as root mean square height (Sq), arithmetic average height (Sa), reverse load area ratio (Smc), and minimum autocorrelation length (Sal) could effectively characterize the degree of damage and deterioration of curved joints. The test privides a reference for analyzing the evolution law of the seismic characteristics of the reservoir.

Abstract Pistachio (Pistacia vera L.) is the only cultivated species in Pistacia genus and one of the most important nut crop in terms of production. Pistachio cultivars have significant level of variation in their phenotypic appearance and productivity. Understanding the genetic diversity between pistachio cultivars could facilitate breeding programs. Simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers are powerful tools in genetic diversity and germplasm collection studies. However, published information about the characterization of large scale pistachio cultivar germplasm with adequate number of SSR markers is limited. In this study, sixty-six pistachio cultivars and genotypes originated from six different countries were characterized and fingerprinted by 74 genomic and 18 genic SSR markers. SSR analysis identified 576 alleles for all 66 cultivars and genotypes. The number of alleles per locus ranged from 2 to 20 (CUPOhBa1592) alleles with a mean value of six alleles per locus. The polymorphism information content (PIC) values ranged from 0.07 (CUPVEST2939) to 0.87 (CUPSiOh2460) with a mean PIC value of 0.58. The pistachio cultivars and genotypes were divided into five clusters according to Structure and UPGMA (Unweighted Pair Group Method with Arithmetic Average) analysis. Total of 61 cultivar specific alleles were detected in 34 cultivars, among them three primers (CUPOhBa1592, CUPBaPa1606 and CUPOhBa2127) produced more than four cultivar-specific loci therefore very promising for cultivar identification, fingerprinting and breeding studies in pistachio.

Abstract For the multi-criteria group decision-making problem where the criterion value is a normal interval number and the weight information is incomplete, the normal interval number and its compromise expected value, compromise mean square error, algorithm, weighted arithmetic average of normal interval number (ININWAA) Operator, the ordered weighted average (ININOWA) operator of normal interval numbers and the mixed weighted average (ININHA) operator of normal interval numbers, and a multi-criteria group with incomplete information based on normal interval numbers is proposed. Decision-making methods. This method uses ININWAA operator and INNHA operator to integrate criterion values, uses the compromise mean square error of criterion values, establishes an optimisation model to solve the optimal criterion weights and uses the expectation variance criterion to determine the order of the schemes. The case analysis shows the effectiveness and feasibility of this method.

In recent years, more considerable attentions are paying on the hazards of large-scale landslides induced by heavy rainfall. However, the heterogeneity in hydraulic properties of soils may affect the seepage pattern of water infiltrated into soil slopes. Inspired by this fact, this paper aimed to evaluate the effect of the spatial variability in hydraulic conductivity on failure mechanism of an unsaturated soil slope subjected to rainfall infiltration, being implemented in the framework of a transient coupled hydro-mechanical analysis. The concept of random field was adopted to model the spatial randomness of saturated hydraulic conductivity ks following a uniform distribution. The finite element method was then incorporated to conduct Monte Carlo simulations. The resultant findings show that the mode of shallow slope failure is more likely to occur than the deep one due mainly to the highly variable distribution of ks near slope surface. Note that the decrease in the effective stress of soils resulting from the increase of pore water pressure is the most critical reason for the occurrence of slope failure. In addition, from the random element analyses results, it indicates that the value of Qari calculated by performing a deterministic analysis based on arithmetic average value kari gives a prediction of flow rate on average, but the calculated Qmax based on maximum value kmax provides a more conservative assessment on total flow rate across soil slope, which can offer useful suggestions for practitioners to take available measures to drain in advance.

This study aims to examine the implications of implementing smartphones in the educational process in the views of students at the University of Hail. The descriptive survey method was used in the research. To achieve the goal of the research, a questionnaire was prepared regarding the degree of use of smartphones in the learning process which is consisted of 20 paragraphs. The research sample was the female students at the University of Hail. It is found that the overall degree is medium as the arithmetic average is 3.34 with a standard deviation of 0.28. It was concluded that students are prodigiously interested in reviewing the university sites. Moreover, it was found that students are immensely skilled in using smartphones for the exchange of electronic messages and the exchange of information. However, they are less interested in submitting electronic assignments. Few students are watching educational presentations on smartphones because of their small size screens and high drainage from the batteries. Therefore, it is highly recommended to conduct experimental studies showing the importance of using the smartphone.
