Introduction: This analysis, based on pre- and postoperative urodynamic data, is the first to elucidate the influence of the adjustable transobturator male system (ATOMS, A.M.I. GmbH, Feldkirch, Austria) on the lower urinary tract and disclose possible obstructive properties. Methods: A prospective study was performed in patients who had stress urinary incontinence and were scheduled for ATOMS implantation after radical prostatectomy. Apart from continence assessment (24-hour pad test, International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Urinary Incontinence Short Form [ICIQ-SF]), urodynamic testing was done with International Continence Society (ICS)-standardized pressure-flow analysis before and after ATOMS implantation/adjustment. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used for statistical analysis. Results: The analysis included 12 consecutive patients from two centers (mean 69 years) with a mean followup of 246 days. Median urine leakage dropped from 240 (72–1250) to 70 (0–700) g/24 hours postoperatively, with a pad reduction of 4 to 0.9 pads/day. Pressure-flow analysis revealed a significant change only in the bladder outlet obstruction index (BOOI). The bladder contractility index, intravesical pressure conditions, and uroflowmetry were not significantly affected. None of the patients showed de novo obstruction postoperatively in the ICS analysis. Conclusions: The ATOMS significantly increases the BOOI in conjunction with good continence results. However, no case reached pathological level according to the BOOI and thus there is no potential danger to the lower urinary tract or urethral integrity.

Objective: To determine the incidence of Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (LUTS) among patients visiting the gynaecology Outpatients Department (OPD) of Shalamar Hospital. Material & Methods: A cross sectional study was performed and 300 patients were recruited. Patients aged 40 to 60 years, visiting the Gynaecology OPD at Shalamar Hospital, Lahore were enrolled from 1st February 2018 to 30th September 2018. The participants were categorized in to two sets: Premenopausal (n=187) and Post-Menopausal (n=113). They were asked to fill the international Consultation and Incontinence Questionnaire-Short Form (ICIQ-UI Short Form). Results: Increased urinary frequency was found to be the most commonly reported symptoms (48%).Stress incontinence and urge incontinence were reported by 58% subjects amongst postmenopausal category and 42% in the premenopausal category. Presence of LUTS was observed to be directly proportional with age. Conclusion: A high incidence of LUTS was observed among patients visiting gynaecology OPD of Shalamar Hospital, Lahore. Risk factors of LUTS and incontinence, like obesity and multiparity were frequency reported. Further studies are required to understand the magnitude of this problem in general population of Pakistan.

Abstract Objectives: to assess internal consistency and reliability in providing a Portuguese version of the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire Female Sexual Matters Associated with Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms Module (ICIQ-FLUTSsex). Methods: a validation study was conducted by applying questionnaires for 56 women over 18 years old with active sexual life and presenting urinary incontinence, excluding those who had urinary infection in the past 6 months. Three questionnaires were used, one for personal identification; the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire - Short Form (ICIQ-SF) and the ICIQ-FLUTSsex. SPSS software was used for data analysis. Cronbach's alpha was used to verify reliability of the items on the questionnaires and Kappa coefficient was used to assess the agreement between the questionnaires applied in the test-retest. Results: the median age was 49.1 years old, mostly were mixed colored skin and married, with a high prevalence of mixed urinary incontinence. Cronbach's alpha score was 0.80, which was considered good. Kappa value was moderate, ranging from 0.36 to 0.76. Conclusion: internal consistency was considered good and reliability moderate. The Portuguese version of ICIQ-FLUTSsex was proven to be valid to use on women with urinary incontinence, contributing for clinical practice, as it provides as a quick tool for research on sexual dysfunction.
