Abstract Building on the institutional economics perspective, we study how local firms in an emerging economy exploit institutional voids by sourcing inputs from industries with a large informal economy. We argue that this allows them to build a cost-related competitive advantage and leverage it both to export and to enhance export performance. The empirical study uses a unique dataset compiled by the Mexican authorities covering manufacturing plants between 2005 and 2012. Our results indicate that firms operating in industries that procure from industries with an extensive informal economy are more likely to export and to have better export performance.

<p>The purpose of this study is to measure the effect of ethics embedded practices on maintaining long-term relationships with customers. Based on an extensive literature review, four elements of marketing ethics, namely, honesty, autonomy, privacy and transparency were identified and examined by utilizing a sample of 360 participants. Adopting a quantitative approach, the study conducted on telecommunication sector subscribers revealed that the elements of marketing ethics affected an organization’s ability of maintaining long-term relationships with customers and had a strong influence on feedback, transparency and privacy. The results also showed the crucial role of generating feedback from customers for creating and maintaining long-term relationships. The results will enable marketers to not only analyze the importance of adopting ethical practices in their strategies but also the relative relevance of these practices as perceived by customers.</p>

This study investigates the extent of Relationship Marketing Orientation (RMO) in the banking sector of Egypt. The need to deliver a superior value to bank customers has assumed paramount importance as competition intensifies at a fast pace and local consumers become more demanding. This study attempts to answer whether the bank’s ownership style will influence the extent of the bank’s relationship marketing orientation. This empirical study of 32 Egyptian banks is based on the antecedents and determinants of RMO elected from the literature. Findings suggest that different ownership of a bank may exert a different emphasis on RMO. The study reports that RMO is determined by ten antecedents of relationship marketing.

This paper provides an introduction about the field of international entrepreneurship on the export performance. Accordingly, the present study investigating the underlying dimensions of international entrepreneurship and empirically test a framework to identify the impact of international entrepreneurship on the exporting performance with special emphasize to Jordanian SMEs. The results of the study reveal that the international entrepreneurship for Jordanian SMEs had a significant impact on exporting performance. The significance of this study stems from the fact that lacks of studies have investigated on the impact of international entrepreneurship on the exporting performance. Also, it provides a reference for countries, firms and scholars interested in international business.
