A polyoxometalate-based copper(II) inorganic-organic hybrid polymer [Cu(dpdo)2(H2O)4] [Na2(Mo8O26) (H2O)6] (dpdo) 2H2O (1) (dpdo=4,4’-bipyridine-N,N'-dioxide) has been synthesized and structurally characterized by IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and single-crystal X-ray analysis. The structure is based on two types of polymeric chains, the anionic one constructed by the coordination interaction between the [b-Mo8O26]4- cluster anions and [Na2]2+ units, and the cationic one formed through the coordination interaction of Cu(II) atoms and dpdo ligands. In addition, there are multiform hydrogen bonds and π … π interactions in a three-dimensional supramolecular network

In the title polymeric complex, {[Fe(C12H10N2)2(H2O)4](CH3C6H4SO3)2·2CH3OH}n, the FeIIcation, located on an inversion centre, is coordinated by four water molecules in the equatorial positions and two 1,2-bis(pyridin-4-yl)ethene molecules in the axial positions. This results in a distorted octahedral geometry for the [N2O4] coordination polyhedron. The 1,2-bis(pyridin-4-yl)ethene molecules bridge the FeIIcations, forming polymeric chains running along thea-axis direction. Stabilization of the crystal structure is provided by O—H...O hydrogen bonds; these are formed by coordinated water molecules as donors towards the O atoms of the methanol molecules and tosylate anions as acceptors of protons, leading to the formation of a three-dimensional supramolecular network. Weak C—H...O hydrogen bonds are also observed in the crystal.

A novel organic-templated zincophosphate, namely (C6H16N2)[Zn(HPO4)2], was hydrothermally synthesized and X-ray single-crystal structural analysis reveals that the anions [Zn(HPO4)2]2–, which have square-twisted chains containing corner-sharing four-rings of alternating ZnO4 and PO4 tetrahedra, are assemblied via self-complementary strong and symmetrical hydrogen-bonding R22(8) synthons between the phosphate groups into three-dimensional hydrogen bond frameworks featuring three-dimensional intersecting pseudochannels. The doubly protonated 2,5-dimethylpiperazinium cations are attached to the three-dimensional inorganic framework via N-H···O hydrogen bonds to strengthen the 3-D network.

Abstract Layer diffusion of 3,5-bis(4-pyridyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazole (BptH) in ethanol on an aqueous solution of cadmium sulfate leads to a novel three-dimensional cadmium sulfate-based inorganic-organic hybrid polymer (IOHP), CdSO4(H2O)(BptH)·1.5H2O (1). Its structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD), and further characterized by elemental analysis, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), infrared spectra (IR), and thermogravimetric (TG) analysis. IOHP 1 exhibits a novel 2-nodal 3,5-connected nanoporous structure formed by BptH ligands connecting 2D neutral inorganic cadmium sulfate layers. Water molecules reside in its nanoporous channels. The thermal stability and solid-state photoluminescence properties of the compound have also been investigated.

Abstract A series of six new single crystals of fully stoichiometric As3+-bearing Mo-oxides and partially W-substituted Mo-oxides with formula AsmO(Mo1−xWxO3)p (m = 1, 2; p = 5, 7, 9, 10 and 11 and 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.6) was successfully grown using vapor-phase transport in vacuo. The crystal structures were determined using single-crystal X-ray diffraction data. All these compounds exhibit acentric orthorhombic symmetry with Z = 2, and belong to the so-called (n)-ITB (intergrowth tungsten bronzes) family, with n = 2, 3, 4 and 5. The six (n)-ITB phases have the following formulae: (2)-AsMo5O16 (Pm 2a), (2)-As2Mo10O31 (Pma 2), (3)-AsMo7O22 (Pmn 21), (3)-As(Mo5.53W1.47)O22 (Pmn 21), (4)-As(Mo4.33W4.67)O28 (Pm 2a) and (5)-As(W6.63Mo4.37)O34 (Pmn 21). Their structures consist of vertex-sharing MO6 octahedral units (with M either Mo or Mo/W) connected so as to form three-dimensional frameworks. Such frameworks consist of perovskite tungsten bronzes (PTB) type slabs, from 2- to 5-octahedra wide, intergrown with single hexagonal tungsten bronzes (HTB) type slabs, stacked up to form pseudo-hexagonal tunnels along the a-axis. As3+ and additional oxygen atoms are located in off-center positions inside the tunnels, forming As–O bonds with peculiar arrangements. In particular, we obtained the first examples of structures where, besides the usual AsO3E distorted pyramidal geometry, As3+ adopts AsO4E coordination with a seesaw configuration.

A novel Dawson-type polyoxometalate supramolecular architecture of the formula [4,4′-H2bipy]2.5·[4,4′-Hbipy]·[P2W18O62]·6.25H2O (4,4′-bipy = 4,4′-bipyridine) has been hydrothermally synthesised and characterised by means of elemental analysis, IR, CV and X-ray single-crystal diffraction. X-ray crystallography indicates that the title compound consists of Dawson-type polyoxoaions [P2W18O62]6-, water molecules and 4,4′-bipy units. The polyoxoanion clusters together with 4,4′-bipy units and water molecules to construct the three-dimensional supramolecular network through hydrogen bonds. The crystal structure analyses reveal that water molecules and 4,4′-bipy units play the important role on the packing arrangements of crystals. Cyclic voltammetry shows that the title compound exhibits three chemically reversible steps

AbstractA novel heptacoordinated thiosemicarbazonato lead(II) complex [Pb(4ML)(SCN)] (4ML = 2-Acetylpyridine-4N-methylthiosemicarbazonato) was synthesized and characterized by conventional methods (IR and elemental analysis) and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. [Pb(4ML)(SCN)] shows an unusual polymeric structure in which the lead atom is hexa-coordinate, the deprotonated thiosemicarbazone both chelates and bridges, and the thiocyanate group acts as bridge between lead(II)-thiosemicarbazonate fragments. There is hydrogen-bonding between the polymeric chains. The complex crystallizes in the triclinic space group P 1̅̅ with a = 7.461(2), b = 9.572(2), c = 11.235(2) Å, α = 66.51(3), β = 84.01(3), γ = 68.75(3)°, V = 685.1(2) Å3, Z = 2.
