The phenomenon of hydrate freeze-plugging is very widespread in Jilin oilfield M gas field exploitation. Freeze-plugging tends to occur in winter, mainly including ground pipeline, wellhead and wellbore freeze-plugging, etc, which affects the normal production of gas well, also has restricted the gas reservoir development and will cause huge economic losses. In order to prevent the freeze-plugging occurred in gas well, methyl alcohol is used to inject into single well at the rate of 600 to 3080 L/day. The field condition shows that the result of injecting methanol is not obvious, besides, the toxicity of methanol and its high cost already cannot satisfy the oilfield actual demand. Therefore, we need to research and develop new hydrate inhibitors with low cost and high efficiency to solve the problem of freeze-plugging.

The tight sandstone reservoirs of the Permian Shihezi and Shanxi Formation with strong heterogeneity constitute the main producing zone of the eastern Sulige gas field. The process of differential densification results in various reservoir qualities. Mineral composition, structural characteristic, pore system, and diagenesis were investigated with analyses of well logs, thin sections, porosity, and horizontal permeability of the core plugs; environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM); nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR); X-ray computed tomography (X-CT); and fluid inclusion homogenization temperature. The results show that lithic sandstone reservoirs experienced complex and various diagenetic evolutions. Eight types of densification modes can be divided according to the diagenesis paths; these modes represent lithofacies with different densification times and reservoir qualities. Intense mechanical compaction is the main reason for the formation of lithofacies 1, 2, and 5. Lithofacies 4, 6, and 7 formed due to intense cementation, increasing the impermeability of the diagenetic system. The primary pore space in lithofacies 3 is preserved due to the overpressure and chlorite coatings. The dissolution and weak cementation of lithofacies 8 contribute to reservoir development. The middle-lower part of braided channel lags and channel bars, the middle part of meandering riverbed lags, and the middle part of point bars are favourable for reservoir development.

Since commencing operatorship in the Amadeus Basin in June 1980, the Amadeus Joint Venture has acquired 3000 km of multifold seismic data and reprocessed 2500 km of existing single fold and multifold data. These data, integrated with geological, Landsat, gravity and airphoto information, led to the drilling of eight exploration wells, which resulted in two gas discoveries (in the Dingo 1 and West Walker 1 wells) and numerous additional oil and gas shows in the remaining wells.Interpretation of these multi-discipline data has enabled a number of significant structural trends and styles in the Amadeus Basin to be defined. Individual prospects within some of the major structural trends have now been tested by the drill. This paper describes the nature of these structural trends and illustrates geologically and geophysically typical examples of drilled prospects existing within these trends. The primary exploration targets in the Amadeus Basin are the Ordovician Stairway and Pacoota Sandstones (confirmed by the Mereenie Oil and Gas Field, Palm Valley Gas Field, and the West Walker gas discoveries) and the Precambrian-basal Cambrian Arumbera Sandstone (confirmed by the Dingo gas discovery). Geochemical and maturation data indicate that significant additional oil and gas accumulations can be discovered in these formations.Data from Dingo 1, Mt Winter 1 and Finke 1 have again indicated that significant quantities of both oil and gas have been generated in the Late Proterozoic sediments of the Basin. An active exploration program is continuing and will endeavour to confirm these expectations.
