Three new species and new records of African Psammoecus Latreille (Coleoptera, Silvanidae)

Three new African species of Psammoecus Latreille, 1829 are described: Psammoecus nyakabuyensis sp. nov., Psammoecus procerus sp. nov. and Psammoecus sinuaticollis sp. nov. New distribution data and a revised identification key for African Psammoecus are given.

Three new species of Otostigmus Porat, 1876 from Brazilian Atlantic Forest are described. Otostigmus beckeri sp. n. andO. lanceolatus sp. n. are described from the state of Bahia and O. giupponii sp. n. from the state of Espírito Santo. InBrazil, the otostigmine scolopendrid genus Otostigmus comprises 22 species. A summary of Brazilian Otostigmus speciesis presented with new distribution records, taxonomic remarks when appropriate and an identification key. Otostigmus sul-catus Meinert, 1886 is recorded for the first time from Brazil; the Andean Otostigmus silvestrii Kraepelin 1903, previouslyrecorded from Brazil, is here considered not to be present in this country. Eight nominal species are regarded here as newsynonyms. Five of them—Otostigmus pradoi Bücherl, 1939, O. longistigma Bücherl, 1939, O. longipes Bücherl, 1939,O. langei Bücherl, 1946 and O. dentifusus Bücherl, 1946—are based on females of O. tibialis Brölemann, 1902. O. latipesBücherl, 1954 is conspecific with and is considered a junior synonym of O. sulcatus Meinert, 1886; O. limbatus diminutusBücherl, 1946 is a junior synonym of O. limbatus Meinert, 1886 and O. fossulatus Attems, 1928 is a junior synonym of O. goeldii Brölemann, 1898. A lectotype is designated for O. goeldii.

Neomuscina Townsend includes 41 species distributed throughout the Nearctic and Neotropical Regions. Although the genus has a large number of species, it has been ignored and its taxonomy is confusing and has many flaws. In this work we analyzed the following species recorded for Brazil: Neomuscina atincta Snyder, N. atincticosta Snyder, N. capalta Snyder, N. currani Snyder, N. douradensis Lopes & Khouri, N. goianensis Lopes & Khouri, N. inflexa (Stein), N. instabilis Snyder, N. mediana Snyder, N. mimosa Lopes & Khouri, N. neosimilis Snyder, N. nigricosta Snyder, N. paramediana Lopes & Khouri, N. pictipennis pictipennis (Bigot), N. ponti Lopes & Khouri, N. sanespra Snyder, N. schadei Snyder, N. similata Snyder, N. stabilis (Stein), N. transporta Snyder, N. vitoriae Lopes & Khouri and N. zosteris (Shannon & Del Ponte). Neomuscina nigricosta and N. transporta are new distribution records for Brazil. Three new species are described: Neomuscina anajeensis sp. nov. from Anagé (Bahia), Neomuscina maculata sp. nov. from Botelhos (Minas Gerais) and Neomuscina snyderi sp. nov. from Mata de São João (Bahia). An identification key based on the morphological characters of both male and female is provided. Species distributions are discussed and updated, and the number of species now recorded for Brazil is 29.

Three new species of Trichomyia (Brachiotrichoyia) (Trichomyiinae, Psychodidae), Trichomyia spatulata sp. nov., Trichomyia ciliata sp. nov., and Trichomyia recurva sp. nov. are described and illustrated. In this paper five new records for the Chinese flat bug fauna are reported: Aradus angularis Sahlberg 1886, Aradus betulae (Linnaeus 1758), Aradus distinctus Fieber 1860, Aradus tonkinensis Kormilev & Heiss 1976, and Aradus rysakovi Kiritshenko 1951. Aradus wuzhisanensis Liu 1981from Hainan Province is synonymised with Aradus candidatus Bergroth 1889, a species known from Myanmar, Thailand, and Laos. A new species, Aradus gaoligongensis n. sp. from Sichuan Province, belongs to the “transiens”-group and is described and figured. In addition, new distribution data are given for 8 Aradus species.

Loxosceles Laeta ◽

Loxosceles Heineken & Lowe, 1832 spiders are infamous for their medical importance, but a taxonomic picture of the genus is still far from complete. In this study, the Chilean species of Loxosceles are described and mapped. The males of Loxosceles surca Gertsch, 1967 and L. coquimbo Gertsch, 1967 are described for the first time. Three new species with narrow distributions are described from central and northern Chile: Loxosceles diaguita sp. nov. from the Antofagasta Region, L. pallalla sp. nov. from Coquimbo and L. vallenar sp. nov. from Atacama. The first two species are remarkable in their morphology and do not fit into any of Gertsch’s species groups, suggesting that Chile still harbours an undiscovered phylogenetic diversity of the genus. New distribution records for Loxosceles laeta (Nicolet, 1849) are provided throughout Chile.

New species and new records of Charops Holmgren, 1859 (Ichneumonidae: Campopleginae) are reported from the Oriental, Neotropical, Palaearctic and Afrotropical regions. Three new species are described: Charops aeruginosus sp. n. from Taiwan, Charops electrinus sp. n. from Uganda and Charops juliannae sp. n. from Tanzania. The Afrotropical fauna of the genus is revised and an identification key is provided. The first records of Charops armatus Seyrig, 1935 from Ethiopia, Charops diversipes Roman, 1910 from Uganda, Charops lucianae Santos et Onody, 2019 from Argentina, and Charops cantator (DeGeer, 1778) from Syria are given.

As it is currently defined, Archispirostreptus includes two species groups (the southern African and the east African) with distinct kinds of gonopods. A new genus, Cacuminostreptus Mwabvu, is proposed to accommodate the southern African species which include C. conatus (Attems 1928) comb. n. and three new species, C. vumbaensis Mwabvu, C. triangulatus Mwabvu and C. mazowensis Mwabvu. Two new synonymies are established: A. Cecchii Silvestri 1897 = A. phillipsii Pocock 1896 and A. transmarinus Hoffman 1965 = A. syriacus (Saussure 1859). The species A. arabs Pocock 1895 is incertae sedis; and A. sumptuosus Silvestri 1896 is a nomen dubium. Identification keys to the genera and species based on gonopod morphology and distribution data are presented.

The eight species of Bicoxidens were studied in order to verify their taxonomic validity and determine the status of new material. Two new synonymies are established: B. grandis Lawrence, 1965 = B. matabele (Schubart, 1966) and B. flavicollis Attems, 1928 = B. nasti Mwabvu, 2000. B. polyptychus, incorrectly placed in Bicoxidens, on the basis of morphological characters, including gonopods, is moved to Brevitibius Attems, 1950. Three new species, B. matopoensis Mwabvu, B. nyathi Mwabvu and B. gokwensis Mwabvu are described. An identification key to the species, a phylogenetic analysis based on gonopod morphology and distribution data for each species are also presented

Toxomerus Macquart (Diptera: Syrphidae) species from Brazil are revised, including the examination of most of the types. Thirty six species are confirmed. Three new species, Canthonella jarmilae, Canthonella quesquaya, and Canthonella sikesi NEW SPECIES, are described from Hispaniola. New distribution records for Canthochilum taino Matthews and Canthonella parva Chapin expand the known range of these Puerto Rican Bank species to the northern Virgin Islands. Colonization by the Old World species Digitonthophagus gazella (Fabricius) on Jamaica, Hispaniola, Puerto Rico, St. Croix, St. Kitts, Montserrat and Guadeloupe is documented for the first time, and the mainland American species Pseudocanthon perplexus (LeConte) is recorded from Grand Bahama Island, a first record for the West Indies. Onthophagus albicornis Palisot de Beauvois and Onthophagus capitatus Laporte are re-elevated to full species NEW STATUS, and their allopatric distribution on Hispaniola documented. A list of the 45 known species from the Greater Antilles and Bahama Islands is included.
