The myrmecophilous Paederinae rove beetle genus Megastilicus Casey, 1889 from North America is reviewed based on museum specimens. Prior to this study, the genus was monotypic with one species Megastilicus formicarius Casey, 1889 described. Here, we provide a redescription of the genus and the type species, designate a lectotype, and provide pictures of habitus and illustrations of the aedeagus and genital segments. Additionally, we describe a new species for the genus, Megastilicus iowaensis sp. nov., include an identification key to the two species and present the distribution map of both of them, including new state records. We discuss the assignment of the genus to the subtribe Stilicina based on morphological features.

A new species, Stachys semsurensis (sect. Infrarosularis), is described and illustrated from Adıyaman province, Turkey. From the morphological point of view, it appears to be similar to Stachys cataonica, but it differs in several morphological features including densely covered with short stalked to subsessile glandular hairs in flowering stems, verticillasters congested into ± globose head, calyx teeth lanceolate-subulate, corolla white, tube exserted and nutlets obovoid, greyish-brown, reticulate. A comprehensive description of the new species is provided, including detailed photographs, geographical distribution map, habitat structure and ecology, vernacular name and IUCN conservation status.

A new species, Calea arachnoidea, which belongs to Calea sect. Meyeria, is hereby described and illustrated. This species occurs in the Serra Negra region, located in the southern portion of the “Zona da Mata” in the state of Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil. Calea arachnoidea resembles C. quadrifolia, C. heteropappa and C. semirii, and its relationships with these species are discussed and an identification key for the species of C. sect. Meyeria in the state of Minas Gerais is provided. Additionally, photographs, a distribution map, comments about habitat and conservation status are provided.

The genus Entypophana Moser, 1913 is revised. Entypophana njiapanda new species from Tanzania is described, E. apicata Moser, 1913 (type species, by present designation), E. biapicata Moser, 1913, E. hulstaerti Burgeon, 1946, E. lujai Moser, 1917 and E. maynei Burgeon, 1946, are redescribed and lectotypes for E. biapicata, E. hulstaerti, E. lujai and E. maynei are designated. An identification key is provided and photographs illustrate external morphology and male genitalia. A distribution map of the currently known species of Entypophana is provided.

Disporum xilingense is described from Sichuan, China. The new species is related to D. leucanthum and D. bodinieri, with which it shares similar terminal inflorescences, widely open and nodding flowers with tepals slightly saccate at the base. However, its narrowly lanceolate tepals 23–26 mm long with tapered lower part 5–6 mm long, stamens distinctly shorter than the tepals, and style equaling or slight longer than the tepals support recognition at the species rank. The new species is also similar to D. acuminatissimum in flower size and color, whereas D. xilingense differs by its acute apices of leaves and tepals, widely opening flowers, glabrous tepals only minutely papillate on the lower margin and inside, sharply narrowed and navicular tepal bases, stamens 14–16 mm long and style 24–26 mm long. Furthermore, data are reported to exclude D. leucanthum from the flora of China. The main morphological features of the new species are discussed and illustrations and an identification key are provided.

Recent botanical explorations in Sierra Madre Occidental in Durango, Mexico, led to the discovery of a new species which according to its morphology belongs to Salvia sect. Brandegeia. The new taxon is morphologically most similar to S. oresbia from central Mexico, against which it is thoroughly compared. Additionally, it is presented a synopsis of the section in order to provide updated and standardized descriptions for those species known only in base to their protologues, which allows a more detailed and precise comparison in respect to the new species. The morphological examination of the species in the section also revealed that the recognition of S. sharpii as a distinct species from S. blepharophylla is not justified; consequently, it is reduced to synonymy. An identification key, a distribution map, photographs, and a drawing of the new species are also presented.

The Chimanimani Mountains, located at the Mozambique-Zimbabwe border, are geologically unique in that they consist of quartzites giving rise to peaks and outcrops between zones of schist supporting grasslands. The nutrient-poor quartzitic soils house a high number of endemic plant species. One of these is Sericanthe chimanimaniensis, which is here described as new for science. We give a detailed description and distribution map, illustrations, information on ecology and phenology, and an assessment on the conservation status. An identification key to closely allied species is presented.

Schoenus is a predominately austral genus of sedges in which the Southern African taxa have recently received detailed taxonomic attention, starting with a transfer of 24 species into Schoenus from Tetraria and Epischoenus in 2017. The taxonomy of the Southern African Schoenus species is currently being revised, which has brought insight into the existence of several species new to science. Here, we build on this recent taxonomic work by describing one new species that has been previously overlooked (Schoenus inconspicuus), while including a distribution map, an assessment of conservation status and an updated identification key.

The new species Hypericum alacamdaglariense, which belongs to the section Triadenioides, is described and illustrated. Its habitat and ecology, distribution map and conservation status are also provided. The new species is also compared to the closely related H. pallens and H. vacciniifolium in terms of their morphological features.

The detailed study of several Cohniella specimens observed and/or collected in French Guiana shows that they all belong to a single entity and that it is different from the two species previously cited for this country, Cohniella cebolleta and C. ultrajectina, by a set of significant vegetative and floral characters. This entity is here described as a new species, illustrated and compared with the two taxa mentioned. A distribution map of the hitherto known specimens and/or populations is proposed, as well as an identification key.

Tapiena Bolívar, 1906 (type species Tapeina acutangula Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1878) (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae) is reviewed from China. A list and an identification key to ten species of Tapiena from China are given. Three new species are described: T. parapentagona sp. n., T. bilobata sp. n., and T. stridulous sp. n.. The previously unknown female of T. spinicaudata Liu & Xia, 1996 are described for the first time. Based on the examination of male stridulatory area, some known species are redescribed. Important and necessary illustrations, a distribution map, and discussion on distribution of Tapiena are provided.
