The study was conducted on the eggs (roe) and sperm of grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella Val.) obtained during artificially induced spawning. The effect of Roundup on eggs was assessed using the following concentrations of the herbicide: 0.0 (control), 0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 2.0, 5.0 and 10.0 mg/l. Sperm motility was measured at concentrations of 0.0 (control), 0.1, 0.5, 2.0, 5.0, 10.0, 20.0 and 50.0 mg/l. The study showed that the herbicide increased swelling of grass carp eggs and significantly reduced the duration of sperm motility.

The ciliophoran parasite Apiosoma doliaris (Timofeev, 1962) Lom, 1966 was detected from the gills of fry of both grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella and common carp Cyprinus carpio during May 2018 at the ponds of Marine Science Centre Fish Hatchery, University of Basrah.. In the present study a brief description of A. doliaris was given. The occurrence of this species represents its first record in Iraq.

Induced breeding is a scientific approach to the modern fish breeding procedure whereby ripen brood fishes are stimulated to release the eggs by pituitary hormone or any other synthetic hormone to breed in captive condition. Fish pituitary is mainly used for induced breeding but due to difficulties in the preparation of injections and preservation, nowdays synthetic hormones like LHRH-a, Ovaprim, WOVA-FH, Ovatide etc. are found to be used for induced breeding. A total of 4 sets of female grass carp were used for induced breeding with application of LHRH-a and pituitary extract in April at Mandal Fish Hatchery, Rupandehi. In total 23,67,500 eggs were collected and incubated. Fecundity, fertility and hatching rates were 1,25,000, 40-70% and 60-70% respectively. The rate of breeding especially, fertilization and hatching rate with LHRH-a was found better than with pituitary extracts.

The most rational way to reduce the eutrophic load on reservoirs-coolers of energy enterprises, in which the technological processes of energy production and growing fish products are not disrupted, is the introduction of fish-reclaimers into the reservoir. In this regard, full-system fisheries of this type include the production of fish-planting material of herbivorous species, in particular grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella in their work plan. In the production conditions of Belovsky Fisheries LLC, a technology for growing planting material and commercial products of the white Amur has been developed, which has fully justified itself. At the same time, certain difficulties are associated with obtaining high-quality sexual products of herbivorous fish. Due to the technological features and hydrochemical regime of the reservoir, the production of plant-eating fish planting material is carried out with a high risk of over-aging of sexual products. Analysis of the results of spawning campaigns revealed a number of problems, including: zero percent of fertilization, early maturation and release of part of the eggs by females after a permissive injection, and gonad thrombosis. To solve the problem of low fertilization rate, special attention should be paid to sufficient oxygen concentration in water during pre-spawning operations with producers of Cupid. The problem of over-aging of sexual products and gonad thrombosis is proposed to be solved by using a flexible scheme of hormonal stimulation of producers.
