While teaching and learning are underway, the world is still grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on educational systems, particularly curriculum delivery across the globe, on both developing and developed countries. As a result, collaboration and partnerships with primary, secondary schools, and higher education institutions are more vital than ever. Unfortunately, many schools have yet to show real leadership when it comes to this. This chapter foregrounds the school management team voices to depict collaborative initiatives and ways to improve curriculum delivery in a rural context of two secondary schools in Free State, South Africa during the crisis. In so doing, the chapter considers collaborative initiatives that are inclusive and provide much-needed practical information for curriculum delivery and sustainable leadership.

Рассматривается вопрос о положении магистров в школе и позиции руководителей общеобразовательных школ по отношению к магистерской подготовке. На основе изучения вопросов, связанных с затруднениями в процессе обучения в магистратуре, установлено, что в школе не создаются условия для успешного обучения, поскольку руководители не проявляют заинтересованности именно в магистерской подготовке педагога. По результатам анкетирования руководителей общеобразовательных школ установлено, что работодатели не видят принципиальной значимости в многоуровневой подготовке педагога, поскольку нормативно не закреплены функции и виды деятельности магистров в школе. При этом директора школ готовы создавать условия для обучения педагогов в магистратуре, привлекать к исследовательской и проектно-управленческой деятельности, к педагогическому сопровождению работы по совершенствованию деятельности педагогов школы, включать их в состав команды по управлению в школе. Обозначена проблема набора с точки зрения распределения контрольных цифр приема в магистратуру, обусловленная отсутствием заинтересованности работодателей в магистерской подготовке педагога.In this article, the author considers the issue of the position of masters in school and the position of the heads of secondary schools for master’s training. Based on the study of difficulties in the process of studying at a magistracy, the author found that the school does not create conditions for successful learning, because the leaders do not show interest in the master’s training of a teacher. Based on the results of a survey of the heads of secondary schools, the researcher concludes that employers do not see fundamental importance in the multi-level training of the teacher, since the functions and types of activities of masters in the school are not legally fixed. At the same time, school principals are ready to create conditions for the training of teachers in the magistracy, to involve in research and design and management activities, in pedagogical support of work to improve the activities of school teachers, to include them in the school management team. The author outlines the problem of recruitment from the point of view of the distribution of master figures for admission to the magistracy, which is caused by the lack of interest of employers in the master’s training of the teacher.

Background: School participation and educational attainment among adolescents have been rising rapidly in the developing world. Thus, to attain Millennium Development Goal 6 (Combat HIV and/or AIDs, malaria and other diseases), it is crucial to seize the opportunity to educate and encourage teenagers about healthy choices and proper social behaviours that will continue into adulthood.Aim: This study aimed to assess the exposure of rural secondary school learners to health education and promotion at schools in the Limpopo Province of South Africa.Setting: This study was carried out at 10 secondary schools in Vhumbedzi educational circuit.Methodology: The study adopted a cross-sectional quantitative approach. Data were collected from 338 randomly selected learners from 10 secondary schools that make up a rural Vhumbedzi circuit in the Limpopo province. A self-administered questionnaire was used to collect data.Results: The findings showed that, 102 (66.07%) male and 121 (67.60%) female learners reported that they were taught about physical changes that occur during adolescence. In the same vein, most of the participants (n = 128, 84.39%) and (n = 152, 85.39%) males and females respectively claimed to have been taught about sexually transmitted diseases.Conclusion: In this study the secondary schools in the Limpopo Province of South Africa are making efforts to uphold and expose their learners to health education and promotion at school.Keyword: Health education and promotion, adolescents, school, learners

In order for all to be included according to their needs and specificities, the objectives proposed by school education must be directed to the recognition and problematization of differences. The objective of this study was to analyze the implementation of programs and actions proposed in the scope of the National Policy of Special Education from the perspective of Inclusive Education (BRASIL, 2008), in a school located in a small municipality in the west of São Paulo. The methodology consisted of formative intervention on public educational policies, programs and actions in an inclusive perspective, and participant observation to follow the actions developed by the school management team, based on a qualitative approach. The programs and actions of the Ministry of Education are effective, since they aim to contribute and help with the guarantee, not only of access, but also of the permanence with the quality of students in the school context.

This study investigated the effect of school management on students’ perceived academic achievement among Seventh- day Adventist secondary schools in in North-East Tanzania. The study employed survey research design, whereby a self-administered questionnaire was distributed to 311 randomly selected students and their responses were analyzed through the Statistical Package for Social Sciences. The study established that school management was effective in planning, motivating and encouraging students to work hard toward maximized academic achievement. However, the school management was perceived ineffective in accepting ideas from students and involving parents in decision making. Students were satisfied with their academic achievement and believed that their academic competence keeps increasing from day to day but were undecided whether teachers and parents are satisfied with their academic achievement. Finally, students’ academic achievement is positively influenced by effective school management. Based on the conclusions, the researchers recommended that, while school management is effective in planning, motivating and encouraging students to work hard toward maximized achievement, the school leaders need to improve on acceptance of constructive ideas from students and involving parents in decision making processes. While students were satisfied with their academic achievement and they were undecided whether teachers and parents are satisfied with their academic achievements, there is a need to enhance the interaction between students and their parents and teachers for them to grasp how parents and teachers perceive their academic achievement. Finally, while students’ academic achievement is positively influenced be effective school management, there is need for school leaders to improve their managerial practices which will enhance the level of academic achievement by students in the respective schools.
