This year we celebrate the 70-th year of the chair founded in BMSTU in 1951 which name today is "Robotic Systems and Mechatronics". Evolution of the chair during the last 70 years is completely reflected the technical progress in the field of automation. From automatic drives to autonomous robots. Again with the improvement of the educational programs in accordance with the vital demands the chair managed to keep the basic traditions of the Russian engineering school based on the combination of the fundamental scientific background with the practical competence in the new technical systems design. The prominent scientists and engineers made a major contribution to the content and methods of training of future specialists in robotics and mechatronics which are acknowledged both in Russia and abroad. Nowadays robotics is transforming from perspective direction to urgent needs. The chair "Robotic Systems and Mechatronics" is completely ready to reply the new challenge of time.

Given the increasingly permissive nationwide attitude toward abuse of marijuana and other soft drugs, in what direction should school-based education/prevention programs move? After reviewing the history of such programs, the author offers a plan to decrease the incidence of adolescent drug abuse by utilizing an array of non-educational resources including youth oriented media. Achieving this goal will permit educational programs to shift their energies and resources back to primary prevention and away from intervention and treatment.

The breast self-examination (BSE) of 690 female students in two tertiary institutions of a cosmopolitan city was investigated. The students were interviewed about their BSE practices including variables that might have influenced their BSE behavior. Results revealed that although 84.6 percent of the respondents were aware of BSE, 65.1 percent did not know the correct step and sequence of BSE. While respondents attitudinal disposition to BSE was generally favorable, only 11.6 percent of the respondents correctly practiced BSE in the last six months and standing before the mirror position was the most popular technique employed (29.6%). In addition, previous breast problems were found to affect BSE but not history of breast cancer in the family. Of the 234 respondents (33.9%) who had never practiced BSE, 23 percent attributed it to lack of knowledge and 18 percent felt it was not important. Based on these findings we recommend that school based BSE educational programs should be organized with the participation of student and non-student associations.

[Excerpt] We recently conducted a rapid evidence review on educational programs that focus on child sexual abuse (CSA) prevention (Trew et al., 2021). In that review, we learned that child-focused CSA prevention education could be enhanced by looking at how to improve the parent engagement or involvement. We know from a previous review (Hunt & Walsh, 2011), that parents’ views about CSA prevention education are important. But further evidence is needed to develop concrete strategies for strengthening parent engagement in appropriate and effective ways. As identified in the above-mentioned review (Trew et al., 2021), prominent researchers in the CSA prevention field have noted that if prevention efforts are to be successful, it is imperative to include parents (Hunter, 2011; Mendelson & Letourneau, 2015; J. Rudolph & M.J. Zimmer-Gembeck, 2018; Wurtele & Kenny, 2012). This research focuses on two complementary aspects of parent engagement in CSA prevention: (i) parent participation in parent-focused CSA prevention (ii) parent participation in school-based or child-focused CSA prevention.

Summary One of the biggest challenges in the design of educational systems concerns how vocational education and training (VET) systems are best organized for the labour markets of tomorrow. Do we need more specialized craftsmen with practical and specific skills that tightly link to specific occupations, or do we need a shift towards broader craftsmen with more general skills? Using microdata from France, Germany, and The Netherlands, we show that there are different ways by which the VET sector establishes school-to-work linkages. Linkages between school to work are on average stronger in systems with a dual VET sector compared to a full school-based model. However, an important reason why linkages are stronger is because of compositional differences, as in dual VET systems more students tend to be enrolled in strongly linking educational programs. Moreover, VET systems are far from homogeneous, and there are large differences in how strong educational programmes link to occupations within and between countries. In general, employment is highest among the stronger linking programs, and this effect is strongest in dual VET systems. These results suggest that there is still room for occupationally oriented schooling.
