The seed extract of Dypsis lutescens, had been analyzed for mild steel corrosion inhibition in acid medium with weight loss, thermodynamic, adsorption and electrochemical parameters. The results reflected that the extract is a potential corrosion inhibitor. IR spectra and SEM photographs recorded for functional group and surface modification analysis of mild steel, were agreeing with other parameters. Entire study revealed that the inhibitor works through adsorption of its molecules over the mild steel. From this study it is inferred that the seed extract of D. lutescens is an efficient, eco-friendly and alternate corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in acid medium.

The corrosion and adsorption behavior of leaf extract ofFuntumiaelastica(FE) on mild steel corrosion was studied in 1 M HCl using gravimetric ,electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, potentiodynamic polarization and Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy methods, Quantum chemical calculations were performed to theoretically correlate the inhibition performance of the inhibitor with its electronic structural parameters. The gravimetric experiment revealed that the extract effectively inhibited the corrosion of mild steel even at a prolonged exposure time. The impedance and polarization results revealed that the extract inhibited both the cathodic and anodic partial reactions via the adsorption of the inhibitor on the metal/solution interface. The FTIR results revealed FE as an adsorption inhibitor. The calculated quantum chemical parameters associated with the molecular structure of FE confirmed its inhibiting efficacy.

Corrosion behavior of mild steel in acidic medium usingAdhatoda Vasica(AV) extract was investigated. The inhibitive effective ofAdhatoda Vasicaon the corrosion of mild steel in different acidic medium has been studied by weight loss and polarization methods. The Ecorrvalues are shifted slightly towards negative side in presence of inhibitors which indicate the inhibitors inhibit the corrosion of mild steel in acids solution by controlling both anodic and cathodic reactions due to the blocking of active sites on the metal surface. It is evident that inhibitors bring about considerable polarization of the cathode as well as anode. It was, therefore, inferred that the inhibitive action is of mixed type.
