Background: Ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL) is a chronically progressive disease of ectopic enchondral and membranous ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament (PLL). Controversy still persists over the superiority of various surgical approaches for cervical OPLL management. Purpose: To see the efficacy of expansive laminoplasty for the management of continuous and mixed type of cervical OPLL retrospectively. Methods: Records of 20 male and 8 female aged 36-72 years (mean, 56.64 years), who underwent surgical treatment posteriorly for continuous and mixed type OPLL by laminoplasty were obtained from the year 2004 - 2020. Clinical features along with imaging studies, which included X -ray/CT /MRI, were done for the diagnosis of OPLL. Multiple variables were studied, including demographics, surgical parameters, complications and functional outcomes. Results: They were followed on an average of 59.86 ± 20.95 months (range, 24 -108 months). The average operative duration was 95 ± 15.52 min (range: 70 - 140), and the intraoperative blood loss was 199.29 ± 33.55 ml. The cervical curvature index reduced to 8.81 ± 1.96 from 11.00 ± 2.49 and the VAS score decreased from 4.25 ± 0.75 to 2.43 ± 1.40. mJOA score improved from 8.64 ± 1.03 to 13.96 ± 1.26 on the last follow-up after surgery (p < 0.01), with average recovery rate of 65.5 %. Conclusions: The management for cervical myelopathy with multilevel stenosis due to continuous and mixed type of OPLL by Laminoplasty is safe and effective.

Abstract In this note, the main emphasis is to study two kinds of high-order fractional p-Laplacian differential equations with mixed derivatives, which include Caputo type and Riemann–Liouville type fractional derivative. Based on fixed point theorems on the cone, the existence-uniqueness of positive solutions for equations and two iterative schemes to uniformly approximate the unique solutions are discussed theoretically. What’s more, the sufficient conditions for stability of the equations are given. Some exact examples are further provided to verify the analytical results at the end of the article.

In this paper, we discuss solvability of infinite system of fractional integral equations (FIE) of mixed type. To achieve this goal, we first use shifting distance function to establish a new generalization of Darbo’s fixed point theorem, and then apply it to the FIEs to establish the existence of solution on tempered sequence space. Finally, we verify our results by considering a suitable example.

The present article aims at questioning the status of the šāwi dialect of the Bani ʕAbbād tribe by providing a new analysis of the main distinctive phonological, morphological, and syntactical traits which may hint at dialect mixing. The data provided by the field research, based on a functional framework that relies on descriptive linguistics and a typological approach, show that this dialect is deeply affected by a koineizing tendency due to increasing contacts with the populations of the neighboring areas (especially ʕAmmān and Salṭ) which, in turn, leads to the gradual loss of its authentic features. Finally, this paper discusses whether the dialect of the Bani ʕAbbād should still be considered as belonging to the yigūl group (recently renamed Central Bedouin ygūlu) of the Syro-Mesopotamian sheep-raising tribes or if a new typology of mixed type dialects should eventually be adopted for the dialects displaying important markers of both Bedouin and sedentary types.

The present work is devoted to the study of the solvability questions for a nonlocal problem with an integrodifferential conjugation condition for a fourth-order mixed-type equation with a generalized RiemannLiouville operator. Under certain conditions on the given parameters and functions, we prove the theorems of uniqueness and existence of the solution to the problem. In the paper, given example indicates that if these conditions are violated, the formulated problem will have a nontrivial solution. To prove uniqueness and existence theorems of a solution to the problem, the method of separation of variables is used. The solution to the problem is constructed as a sum of an absolutely and uniformly converging series in eigenfunctions of the corresponding one-dimensional spectral problem. The Cauchy problem for a fractional equation with a generalized integro-differentiation operator is studied. A simple method is illustrated for finding a solution to this problem by reducing it to an integral equation equivalent in the sense of solvability. The authors of the article also establish the stability of the solution to the considered problem with respect to the nonlocal condition.

ObjectiveDetermine the utility of P300 Evoked Response Potentials (ERP) voltage patterns in predicting phenotypical sequelae of patients with complex concussions or Persistent Post Concussive Symptoms (PPCS).BackgroundERPs have been used to aid in the diagnosis of multiple neurologic disorders. They have also been recently used in the evaluation of concussions.Design/MethodsA retrospective study of 54 patients, 10–71 year (mean age 29.6 yrs), with PPCS were tested between 6 and 12 weeks post-injury using the standard oddball audio P300 ERP protocol with measures extracted including best central parietal P300 ERP. PPCS Phenotyping was completed in each patient using a standardized post-concussive questionnaire and Rivermead method for 5 primary phenotypes and mixed type.ResultsP300 average Voltage for the entire group was 11.6 mV. Overall, these were significantly lower than age-matched non concussed controls whose average voltage was 16.3 mV (p < 0.0001). Average P300 voltages for each phenotype: Cognition- 14.1 mV, Vestibular- 8.6 mV, Headache- 11.1 mV, Mood- 13.6 mV, Neck Pain- 9.6 mV, Visual- 9.8 mV, Mixed- 6.9 mV, Mixed and Vestibular phenotypes demonstrated the lowest average voltage potentials (6.9 mV and 8.6 mV respectively) which coincided with higher average symptom scores (70.5 and 54.5 respectively). Cognition and Mood demonstrated the highest average voltage potentials (14.1 mV and 13.6 nV respectively), which coincided with lower average symptom scores (40.3 and 48.7, respectively). Mood (13.6 mV) was the lowest average symptom score in the group at 40.3 and Mixed (6.9 mV) was highest at 70.5. Comparing phenotypes against one other, mixed vs mood (p = 0.03), cognition vs vestibular (p = 0.02), and cognition vs mixed (p = 0.009) showed statistical significance.ConclusionsP300 ERPs may help identify persistent abnormal complex concussion neurophysiology. ERPs can also potentially exhibit phenotype specific patterns and be a useful tool in helping differentiate more somatic/physiologic vs mood-based phenotypes. This can ultimately lead in the aid in diagnosis, prognosis, subtyping, and targeted phenotype management.

Cluster analysis seeks to assign objects with similar characteristics into groups called clusters so that objects within a group are similar to each other and dissimilar to objects in other groups. Spectral clustering has been shown to perform well in different scenarios on continuous data: it can detect convex and non-convex clusters, and can detect overlapping clusters. However, the constraint on continuous data can be limiting in real applications where data are often of mixed-type, i.e., data that contains both continuous and categorical features. This paper looks at extending spectral clustering to mixed-type data. The new method replaces the Euclidean-based similarity distance used in conventional spectral clustering with different dissimilarity measures for continuous and categorical variables. A global dissimilarity measure is than computed using a weighted sum, and a Gaussian kernel is used to convert the dissimilarity matrix into a similarity matrix. The new method includes an automatic tuning of the variable weight and kernel parameter. The performance of spectral clustering in different scenarios is compared with that of two state-of-the-art mixed-type data clustering methods, k-prototypes and KAMILA, using several simulated and real data sets.
