We describe two new species of miniaturized toadlet in the B. pernix group of Brachycephalus (Anura: Brachycephalidae) from the Atlantic Forest of the state of Paraná, southern Brazil. The first new species is distinguished from all congeners by the pale red coloration from the head to the pelvic region, with sides of the body and thighs dorsally yellowish green. It is known only from the type locality in a cloud forest at altitudes ranging between 1,144–1,228 m a.s.l. The second species, although more closely related to B. izecksohni, is morphologically similar to B. brunneus in its overall brown coloration, but distinct from that species in the color of the iris (black with conspicuous golden spots, instead of entirely black). It was found on three mountains, at altitudes between 1,095–1,320 m a.s.l., and in vegetation types including cloud forest, montane forest, and secondary forest. The two new species exhibit neither vertebral fusions nor osteoderms, but one has both a distinct neopalatine and well-developed odontoids on the maxillae. We discuss the conservation status of both species.

Two new species of Austrolebias are described based on specimens collected from temporary pools located in natural grassland landscape within the Araucaria Forest domain at exceptionally high altitudes (~1000 meters a.s.l.). Austrolebias botocudo sp. n. and Austrolebias nubium sp. n. occur, respectively, in drainages of upper rio Apuaê-Inhandava (upper rio Uruguay basin) and upper rio Taquari-Antas (upper rio Jacuí, Laguna dos Patos basin), in the Meridional Plateau of southern Brazil. Despite an intensive survey conducted in the area, only two populations of each species were recorded. Both new species occurs at altitudes that are among the higher recorded for species of the genus, and both are assigned to the subgenus Acrolebias. The new species described herein are easily distinguished for its congeners by the colour pattern of males, by presence of melanophores irregularly distributed in different parts of the body, contact organs cover the body and anal fins, position of fins related with vertebrae, by preopercular and mandibular series of neuromasts united, by a series of morphometric features and by larger maximum standard length. Austrolebias botocudo and A. nubium are distinguished from each other by colour pattern of males, length of contact organs in the flank and number of contact organs in scales of lateral line, dorsal profile of head, number of neuromasts in the preopercular + mandibular series, body depth in females, and by basihyal cartilage length. Additionally, we discuss the conservation status of the new species, and provided an identification key for the species of the subgenus Acrolebias.

Two new species of Nullana DeLong, 1980 are described and illustrated: N. albinoi sp. nov. and N. sakakibarai sp. nov., both from the state of Paraná, Brazil. Two new synonyms and a new combination are proposed. A key to the 10 known species of Nullana are presented and Nullana gelbana is newly recorded from Paraná State, Brazil.

Two new species of Graffenrieda are described from the Amazon rainforest. Graffenrieda maturaca is characterized mainly by its leaves which are dull on the adaxial surface, chartaceous, narrowly elliptic to oblanceolate, and apparently uni-nerved, with only the median acrodromous vein evident. This species has been collected only at Serra de Maturacá, in the state of Amazonas, Brazil. Graffenrieda goldenbergii is distinguished mainly by the pulverulent, whitish, early caducous indumentum of the rachis, pedicel, hypanthium and calyx, by the abaxial surface of the leaves which is moderately lepidote, with trichomes ca. 0.2 mm diam., by the irregularly valvate calyx, and by the membranaceous, costate, not sulcate fruits. This species has been collected in the state of Acre, Brazil, and in the Province and District of Lama in Peru. Both species are illustrated, compared with similar species, and their conservation status is discussed.

Two cloud forest species of Lycianthes are newly described: L. breedlovei from the state of Chiapas, Mexico and L. fredyclaudiae from the state of Baja Verapaz, Guatemala. Both species have orange-brown, multangulate-stellate trichomes in which the rays of the trichome are rebranched, white to pale lilac flowers (with darker violet-purple lobes in L. breedlovei), and unequal stamens. Morphologically, they resemble L. hortulana of Honduras, but both new species have previously been misidentified as L. cuchumatanensis. This article provides species descriptions, maps of geographic distributions, drawings of trichomes, and images of the flowers and specimens of the two new species, as well as a comparison chart of morphological characters used to separate L. breedlovei and L. fredyclaudiae from similar species.

We describe two new species of Neotropical land planarians found in protected areas of the Atlantic Forest in southern Brazil. Cratera obsidiana Amaral, Boll & Leal-Zanchet, sp. nov., found in the State Park of Turvo, is the first species of the genus Cratera described from an area of deciduous seasonal forest. It can be distinguished from its congeners by the uniformly black dorsal color and the prostatic vesicle with proximal portion laterally expanded and directed upward. Luteostriata subtilis Boll, Amaral & Leal-Zanchet, sp. nov., found in the National Park of Aparados da Serra, in an area covered by Araucaria moist forest, is distinguished from its congeners by only two conspicuous longitudinal stripes on the dorsal surface of the body and a large fold in the male atrium below the opening of the ejaculatory duct. We also provide an updated key for species of Cratera and the first key for species of Luteostriata.

Inga (Fabaceae, mimosoid clade) is an important genus in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil where there are 44 species, 60% of which are endemic. In this work, we describe two new species of Inga (I. teresensis and I. tripa) from the Atlantic Forest and provide identification keys to the species of sections Vulpinae and Leptinga in the biome. Illustrations and comments about the geographic distribution, conservation status, phenology, etymology, and taxonomy of the new species are also included. Inga teresensis is only known from the state of Espírito Santo and is categorized as Critically Endangered (CR). Inga tripa occurs in coastal areas of the states of Bahia, Paraíba, Pernambuco, and Sergipe and is categorized as Learn Concern (LC).

Two new species of Sida (Malvaceae) found in the state of Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil are described and illustrated: S. oblonga and S. carrascoana, which belong to the sections Cordifoliae and Muticae, respectively. Both are compared to related species, and have their conservation status evaluated.

Abstract—Two new species of Turnera (Passifloraceae s. l., Turneroideae), T. acangatinga and T. ibateguara, from the Atlantic Forest of northeastern Brazil, are described. Some specimens of T. acangatinga were originally treated as T. annularis. Turnera ibateguara was recently considered part of T. pernambucensis, a species which also occurs in the Atlantic Forest in northeastern Brazil, and which was, until then, only known from the type material. In this study, recent collections of T. pernambucensis in the state of Alagoas revealed that both are distinct species and that have been mistakenly identified so far. We provide data on morphology, distribution, habitat, and phenophases, a preliminary conservation status assessment for the three species, and a key to the species with capitate inflorescences from Alagoas and Pernambuco.

Eschweilera donosoensis and Eschweilera rotundicarpa are described from the lowlands rainforest and cloud forest of the Caribbean slope of Panama. E. donosoensis is common in the lowland rainforests in the Donoso District, Colón Province and E. rotundicarpa is endemic to cloud forest in the General De División Omar Torrijos Herrera National Park, Coclé Province and also the lowland rainforest of Valle Grande in the Donoso District, Colón Province. In this paper these species are illustrated, and information on distribution, habitat, ecology, phenology and conservation status according to IUCN are provided.

This study describes a new species of Tradescantia sect. Austrotradescantia, T. multibracteata, found in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil. We provide data on the habitat, geographical distribution, morphological affinities and the conservation status of this new species. Photographs of the plant and habitat are also provided.
