Scroll type of compressor has been used in heat pump & refrigeration system because of its compact size, high efficiency, low vibration and noise level, and excellent running reliability. In the refrigeration cycle the scroll compressor runs smoothly and perfectly, but in the heat pump cycle some troubles appear because its working condition becomes worse. The effect of different factors such as atmospheric condition, electric voltage fluctuation, structure of scroll compressor etc. on running reliability of heat pump system are discussed in this paper. The thermodynamic and aerodynamic behaviors will be emphasized. Some basic design concepts for the running reliability of scroll compressor in the heat pump system are pointed out.

Recent research shows great interest in increasing energy efficiency of a refrigeration system and finding appropriate configurations to optimize its performance. One of the main component in the refrigeration system is compressor. Therefore, the compressor plays an important role in a refrigeration system for energy performance optimization. The study is aimed to experimentally investigate temperature and energy performance of a scroll compressor applied for medium temperature refrigeration systems. Tests were conducted in a water cooled medium temperature refrigeration system. Temperature performance evaluation of the compressor referred to the IEEE Standard 112, while energy efficiency of the compressor was calculated from the energy performance of the refrigeration system. The results clearly show that evaporating temperature together with degree of superheat at suction line of the compressor can significantly affect temperature performance of the scroll compressor. Results of the study have also shown significant improvement on the compressor energy efficiency accounted for 10.4% when the evaporating temperature increases from -8.3 °C to -2.4 °C.

The purpose of this article is to propose 4 dimensions for consideration in hearing aid fittings and 4 tests to evaluate those dimensions. The 4 dimensions and tests are (a) working memory, evaluated by the Revised Speech Perception in Noise test (Bilger, Nuetzel, & Rabinowitz, 1984); (b) performance in noise, evaluated by the Quick Speech in Noise test (QSIN; Killion, Niquette, Gudmundsen, Revit, & Banerjee, 2004); (c) acceptance of noise, evaluated by the Acceptable Noise Level test (ANL; Nabelek, Tucker, & Letowski, 1991); and (d) performance versus perception, evaluated by the Perceptual–Performance test (PPT; Saunders & Cienkowski, 2002). The authors discuss the 4 dimensions and tests in the context of improving the quality of hearing aid fittings.
