Integration of Information Communication Technology in Class Room for Transformative Teaching Learning Process

This paper is about the concept of information communication technology its role, importance, usage in teaching and learning. The field of ICT joins science and technology .it contains the package of computer tangible and intangible items, cell phones and telecommunication, web, internet, guided and unguided media, digital cameras, artificial intelligence and the rest. It combines the field of computer and information science tremendous and speedily growing knowledge base that is developed by researchers and scholars. ICT has declared to be beneficial in solving problems in teaching, learning, education and related field. There are two types of learning mediums. Traditional medium and ICT medium.ICT replaced the traditional medium with smart technology devices. Emerging learning tools such as podcast, blog, integrated learning module Wikipedia and m-learning have begun developing rapid strides in teaching learning processes. There are some barriers of ICT in teaching/learning process were discussed using general talk survey, unstructured interview and observations. It exposed that teacher factor, chalk and talk, inadequate funding, infrastructure, internet connectivity were some of the barriers of Information communication technology in teaching and learning process.

The emergence of knowledge society globally today has created new challenges for Higher Education (HE) particularly with the development of Information Communication Technology (ICT) at a speed that has no match in history yet HE in Uganda is still lagging behind. The paper aims at unraveling the role and challenges of using ICT in HE of Uganda and education implications in order to provide the way forward with Kyambogo University as a case. This study used a mixed methods approach that combined desk review and interviews. The paper reveals the role of ICT in HE as central in the teaching-learning process, on the learner and learning and on the academic staff and teaching while the challenges as; learners, economy, equipment and academic staff which poses as a drawback in the teaching –learning process. The paper concludes that ICT is central in the teaching-learning process as well as in the management of HE institutions. The way forward rests majorly in the newly created ICT Ministry with effective implementation of ICT Policy 2014 to improve the livelihoods of Ugandans by ensuring the availability of accessible, efficient, reliable and affordable ICT services in which HE will benefit automatically hence its effective application and use in the teaching-learning process.

Abstract The problem of professional training of skilled human personnel in the industry of information communication technology, the urgency of which is recognized at the state level of Ukraine and the world, has been considered. It has been traced that constantly growing requirements of the labour market, swift scientific progress require the use of innovative approaches to the training of future ІТ specialists with the aim to increase their professional level. The content of standards of professional training and development of information technologies specialists in foreign countries, particularly in Japan, has been analyzed and generalized. On the basis of analysis of educational and professional standards of Japan, basic requirements to the engineer in industry of information communication technology in the conditions of competitive environment at the labour market have been comprehensively characterized. The competencies that graduate students of educational qualification level of bachelor in the conditions of new state policy concerning upgrading the quality of higher education have been considered. The constituents of professional competence in the structure of an engineer-programmer’s personality, necessary on different levels of professional improvement of a specialist for the development of community of highly skilled ІТ specialists, have been summarized. Positive features of foreign experience and the possibility of their implementation into the native educational space have been distinguished. Directions for modernization and upgrading of the quality of higher education in Ukraine and the prospects for further scientific research concerning the practice of specialists in information technologies training have been suggested
