The reconstruction work following the 2015 Gorkha Earthquake is being done under the leadership of the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) by various organizations in coordination with donor agencies and the local people. A detailed study regarding the reconstruction work is necessary to analyze the work done measured in terms of technical, socioeconomic, and sustainability parameters so that the lessons learned from the study could be used in future policymaking and implementation process that aids in achieving an earthquake-resilient community. The study aimed to evaluate the technical parameter of the reconstruction work done in the Nuwakot district until May 2020, according to the Nepal National Building Codes and the latest NRA guidelines. The study was based on qualitative data collected through a Google form survey. The respondents included experts who were working or had worked in different capacities at various organizations involved in reconstruction efforts at the Nuwakot district. The survey covered aspects such as the status of site topography and geology, technical supervision, design and construction, training and capacity building, and use of vulnerable buildings. The study revealed that most of the buildings are compliant with the specified codes/guidelines and are structurally safe. There is a need to improve on the other aforementioned aspects of technical parameters to aid in achieving resiliency.

A methodology to properly screen all UBD techniques to reduce failure/misapplication and align objectives with expectations had been absent. The paper addresses the latest enhancements to better understand and screen options for UBD operations according to two aspects: formation applicability and engineering applicability. The screening tool considers a range of economic and technical parameter to provide a relative ranking for each candidate of the Underbalanced drilling (UBD) technique. As a case, the methodology was available to optimize the UBD techniques in a risky exploration well in Xinjiang oilfield, which provided guidance and technical support to screen the UBD candidate, design the drilling modeconversion, and establish the emergency schedule.

We present a surprisingly new connection between two well-studied combinatorial classes: rooted connected chord diagrams on one hand, and rooted bridgeless combinatorial maps on the other hand. We describe a bijection between these two classes, which naturally extends to indecomposable diagrams and general rooted maps. As an application, this bijection provides a simplifying framework for some technical quantum field theory work realized by some of the authors. Most notably, an important but technical parameter naturally translates to vertices at the level of maps. We also give a combinatorial proof to a formula which previously resulted from a technical recurrence, and with similar ideas we prove a conjecture of Hihn. Independently, we revisit an equation due to Arquès and Béraud for the generating function counting rooted maps with respect to edges and vertices, giving a new bijective interpretation of this equation directly on indecomposable chord diagrams, which moreover can be specialized to connected diagrams and refined to incorporate the number of crossings. Finally, we explain how these results have a simple application to the combinatorics of lambda calculus, verifying the conjecture that a certain natural family of lambda terms is equinumerous with bridgeless maps.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of forest rotation on the technical and economic feasibility of eucalyptus wood production for charcoal, in different productivity classes. Data came from Eucalyptus stands whose area was stratified into three classes of productivity: high, medium, and low. To each class, a different criterion of forest rotation was applied, as follows: age of maximum productivity, economic rotation age, single harvest age, and no technical parameter. Analyses of economic feasibility and production were performed for a 21-year planning horizon. For rotation without a technical parameter, a simulation by the Monte Carlo method was performed. For all rotation criteria, feasibility was observed for high- and medium-productivity classes, and unfeasibility for the low-productivity class. For rotation without a technical parameter, there is no chance for the project to be unfeasible. Wood production viability for charcoal under the studied conditions depends on the productivity class, for any rotation criterion adopted. Rotation criterion influences profitability, whose definition, according to productivity class, contributes to forest production maximization and to the economic return of the project, under the studied conditions.

Abstract Terms such as vitality and authenticity are difficult to define. Moreover, they cannot be considered true psychoanalytic concepts. If, however, as is happening, psychoanalysis tries to theorize in a more fine-grained manner the non-specific aspects of treatment, such as those related to the person of the analyst, then it becomes inevitable to refer to them. The thesis of the article is that vitality should emerge from its vagueness and be transformed into a precise psychoanalytic concept. This can be done if we discuss it in light of Bion’s concept of negative capability and the post-Bionian theory of the analytic field. Every time the analyst rediscovers to his surprise the dreamlike dimension of the session, he becomes vital gain and reinvests the patient, the analysis and the psychoanalytic method. Then he realizes that he is always a character in the stories of the analysis and has the chance to try to guess what happens by relying on his intensified bodily or emotional reaction.

Abstract In this article we present an overview and summarize trends in automotive gearboxes of standard powertrains. The majority of data used in the statistics are obtained from Catalogue de la Revue Automobile published in years 1995, 2000, 2005, 2012 and 2015. Observed statistical data gives overview about trends in technical parameter of automotive transmissions. Only “standard powertrains”, where the only energy source is the internal combustion engines are taken into account. The hybridization or electrification of powertrains was not an issue on the beginning of the study.
