This study aimed to evaluate the role of Ag NORs in improves diagnosis of Breast cancer with different subtypes’ among Sudanese Patients. This study include tissue sections of breast cancer diagnosed women, they were 30, ductal and lobular invasive carcinoma were 10 for each, while ductal and lobular in-situ carcinoma were 5 each. Found correlation between subtypes of breast cancer and Ag NOR , Invasive ductal carcinoma had more NOR while the lobular carcinoma in situ was less one , Stage III most frequency than the other stage. Silver staining were performed and Ag-NOR were detected in ductal and lobular invasive carcinoma more than ductal and lobular in-situ carcinoma, grade III has more frequency of Ag-NOR than other stages, and no correlation found between Ag-NOR and age group

Abstract Background Lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS) is a noninvasive neoplasm that is known to have an increased relative risk for developing subsequent invasive breast carcinoma. Pure LCIS is usually an incidental finding on histopathological examination (HPE) of tissue samples. However, in the recent years, there has been an increasing trend seen in the diagnosis of LCIS. Purpose This article aims to bring out the spectrum of appearances on breast imaging in confirmed cases of pure LCIS on HPE and immunohistochemical. Materials and Methods Cases that were confirmed as pure LCIS on HPE from core or excision biopsy were retrospectively analyzed for abnormalities on breast imaging. Digital breast tomosynthesis mammography was performed with high-resolution ultrasound with elastography for all cases. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was performed in cases wherever indicated, with dynamic postcontrast imaging after injecting intravenous gadolinium. Conclusion LCIS is recognized as an intermediate risk factor for the development of breast cancer. Pure LCIS has varied histology and imaging patterns on mammography, high-resolution ultrasound, and MRI. It is important to recognize the imaging appearances of these lesions to enable the radiologist to detect LCIS early for proper management.

Abstract Background: There is a potential risk that lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS) on preoperative biopsy might be diagnosed as ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) or invasive carcinoma in the final pathology. This study aimed to evaluate the rate of upgrade of LCIS on preoperative biopsy to DCIS or invasive carcinoma.Methods: Data of 55 patients with LCIS on preoperative biopsy were analyzed. All patients underwent surgery between 1991 and 2016 at Severance Hospital in Seoul, Korea. We analyzed the rate of upgrade of preoperative LCIS to DCIS or invasive cancer in the final pathology. The clinicopathologic features related to the upgrade were evaluated.Results: The rate of upgrade of LCIS to DCIS or invasive carcinoma was 16.4% (9/55). In multivariate analysis, microcalcification and progesterone receptor expression were significantly associated with the upgrade of LCIS (P = 0.023 and 0.044, respectively).Conclusions: The current study showed a relatively high rate of upgrade of LCIS on preoperative biopsy to DCIS or invasive cancer. The presence of microcalcification and progesterone receptor expression may be potential predictors of upgradation of LCIS on preoperative biopsy. Surgical excision of the LCIS during preoperative biopsy could be a management option to identify the concealed malignancy.

BACKGROUND: Breast cancer (BC) is a common malignancy in women. Some molecules, including endocan, are still under investigation as potential prognostic factors in BC. OBJECTIVE: In the present study, we aimed to determine the relationship between endocan expression and clinicopathological prognostic parameters in BC. METHODS: Two hundred and fifty-five patients diagnosed with BC were included in the present study. The immuno-reactivity scoring (IRS) system was used to reveal the tissue endocan expression levels. RESULTS: We found that endocan expression is associated with tumor necrosis, tumor size, and the presence of lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS) in BC. There was no relationship between endocan expression and survival as well as other clinicopathological prognostic parameters. CONCLUSION: Endocan overexpression in BC is associated with some prognostic parameters, including tumor necrosis, tumor size, and the presence of LCIS. Further studies with larger series are needed to reveal the clinical and therapeutic implications of endocan in BC.
