Background: The aim of the study was to know noise induces hearing loss and the effect of the noise on peshmerga that participated in the Daesh war in Erbil city. One of the health problems or most common forms of sensorineural is the noise induced-hearing loss. depending on the exposure noise induce cause damaging of the cochlea. So, one of the causes of noise induced hearing loss is exposure to the excessive noise. Objective: To determine noise induce hearing loss among peshmerga participated in the Daesh war in Erbil city. Patients and Methods: In the present study, a total of (253) Peshmerga of four special brigades who exposed to noise in the Daesh war in Erbil city was performed, also pure tone audiogram was done for each peshmerga in the Auditory department at Hawler teaching hospital. Also, pure tone audiogram and firearm noise levels for the right and left ear for each degree of hearing loss for the range of the noise induced hearing loss (4000Hz) performed and hearing loss range in dB. Slight/Mild from 16-40dB, Moderate/Moderate severe from 41-70dB, and Severe/ Severe profound from 71-120 dB. were evaluated for each peshmerga in the auditory department at Hawler teaching hospital to know the cause of inducing hearing loss. Subjects answered a questionnaire and underwent threshold tonal audiometry. Results: Two hundred and fifty-three peshmerga who participated in the Daesh war, was enrolled in this study that subdivided into four age groups (20-29), (30-39), (40-49), (50-59) years, pure tone audiogram was done for each peshmerga for right and left ear. Conclusion: Because of the nature of the profession military, the common disease in the military is induce hearing loss is caused by noise. Hearing is the vital origin during exposure to loud noise. So, prevention is needed and to be a learner with care to the use of hearing protection device. Keywords: Peshmerga, noise, audiogram, daesh

Noise Induce Hearing Loss (NIHL) is a work disease that is often found in industrial workers. The use of ear protectors that are in accordance with the standard along with the continuity of optimal use can reduce the risk of hearing loss due to noise in the workplace. Adherence to use ear protectors greatly affect the possibility of a person experiencing a more severe hearing loss. The purpose of this study is to prove the existence of relationship of compliance with the use of ear protectors with hearing loss due to noise in the installation of sterilization and laundry. This study used cross sectional methods. Seventeen samples were taken by consecutive sampling for audiometry examination and measurement of compliance with the use of Ear Protective Equipment. Respondents received an average score of 1.86 indicating that compliance with the use of ear protectors was sufficient. Based on the results of the measurement of the auditory threshold in 17 respondents as many as 4 respondents (23%) normal hearing and as many as 13 respondents (77%) experienced NIHL. The results of statistical tests with Pearson correlation show that the Pearson correlation coefficient number of -0.643, which means that the correlation between compliance variables with noise due to noise is 0.643. Based on the criteria above, the relationship between the two variables is significant because the number of significance is P-value / Sig 0.005 <0.05. So, there is a relation between years of work with Noise Induce Hearing Loss, education and Noise Induce Hearing Loss, and compliance with the use of ear protectors with NIHL

Rail maintenance routines are necessary to enable the all rail operations to achieve its aim in maintaining a safe and efficient operation. The maintenance tasks expose the workers to vibration and noise, as they handle specialized machineries and heavy self-propelled vehicles. Exposure of noise above the permissible exposure limit and over the daily allowable duration may cause noise-induce hearing loss (NIHL). Investigation on the type of task that has high noise level exposure on the maintenance workers was conducted to justify the needs to further detailed of this study. This paper will describe the task analysis on maintenance workers and to identify possible tasks with exposure to high level of noise. It scopes down to grinding crew of the maintenance department of light rail transit. Methods used were real-time sound measurement using a sound level meter, observation and interviews. Then, data were analysed to understand the situation of exposure of noise during rail maintenance. An ergonomic risk assessment was also conducted by adoption of the latest guideline on Ergonomic Risk Assessment (ERA) at Workplace Guidelines recommended by Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), Malaysia. A hierarchical task analysis (HTA) was generated on the task of the maintenance worker, focusing on rail grinding crew. The newly generated HTA had allowed better understanding about the nature of work and the task conducted by a rail grinder during the work shifts. Tasks involving high noise level was identified. Data recorded shows that the noise level for the blowing activity was relatively high and exceeded the permissible exposure limit of 90dBA. The exposure level was currently controlled by practicing the usage of hearing protection equipment (HPE) and by controlling exposure time in accordance to recommendations of the Factory and Machinery Act (FMA). Thus, it had confirmed that maintenance workers were exposed to high noise levels when performing their daily task. Further studies are needed to investigate the relationship between the duration of exposure and noise-induce hearing loss (NIHL) with consideration of the lifestyles of the maintenance workers.

Abstract: Hearing loss due to noise (Noise Induced Hearing Loss - NIHL) is hearing impairment, either part or all, loss, irreversible, occur in one or both ears, can be mild, moderate or severe, occurs because of exposure to the constant noise from the environment. The musician is one of the communities that are susceptible to noise induced hearing loss. Musicians had considerable exposure to noise. Most musicians have a hearing loss in varying degrees. The research objective is to determine the profile of hearing loss in the musicians in Manado, researching threshold musical sound that can cause hearing loss, and looking for a relationship with duration of music exposure to hearing loss. Research is explanatory research, analytical research methods and cross-sectional approach. Research conducted on hearing music group in the City of Manado. The study involved 30 people with the details of 15 respondents guitar players and 15 drummers. The result is: The degree of noise in the gym most of the 110-130 dB, experienced by 46.7% of respondents, mostly studied band of men which is about 90%. Hearing loss is the most followed by drummer and then gitarist, 46.7% and 36.6%, respectively; based upon long exposure to music,> 5 years 46.6%, based on length of exercise per day, more in the 3-4 hours it is 40%. Based on the result of the study, there is a relationship between noise exposure and hearing loss in musicians in the city of Manado. The noise level, exposure time per day, duration of exposure and vulnerability of respondents, closely related to hearing loss disorder the musicians in this study. Keywords: Hearing loss, the noise level, duration of exposure, musicians.
