Background. Trichinellosis develops after ingestion of Trichinella cysts in pork meat. It is one of the most important parasitic human pathogens in the world. It is, however, underreported in part because none of the clinical manifestations are pathognomonic. The primary mode of transmission is ingestion of raw meat. Among the symptoms are muscle pain, swelling, and myopathy. High-grade fever and other systemic symptoms are not unusual. The hallmarks are ophthalmic and musculoskeletal manifestations, particularly conjunctival haemorrhage with periorbital edema and subungual splinter haemorrhage. Although the majority of infections are mild and asymptomatic, severe infections can result in enteritis, periorbital edema, and myositis. Presentation of the Case. A 14-year-old male patient from Oromia Region, Arsi Zone, West Arsi Zone, Bishan Guracha area, which is almost completely encircled by mountains, presented with a complaint of worsening easy fatigability and asymmetric right thigh enlargement lasting one month. The pertinent physical examinations on presentation were puffy face and eyes, and there was a 4 cm by 5 cm mass on the right lateral thigh with no overlying skin colour change, on-tender, and no discharge. Eosinophilia of 14% was noticed on the complete blood count. The definitive diagnosis of trichinellosis was made by muscle biopsy. He was then managed with albendazole and prednisolone and improved. Conclusion. Patients with periorbital edema, myositis, or eosinophilia should be evaluated for trichinellosis. Individuals who have these symptoms and a history of eating pork meat should be suspected of having trichinellosis. Before eating raw pork meat, it is recommended that it be cooked properly.

Purpose: The aim of this study to investigate the effect of bromelain-arnica gel combination on periorbital edema and ecchymosis seen after open septorhinoplasty. Methods: Sixty patients who performed open septorhinoplasty with osteotomies were included to the study. These patients were allocated into two groups: in group 1, 30 patients as control and in group 2, 30 patients as study group who were treated with topical bromelain-arnica gel after surgery. Scoring of eyelid edema and peroirbital ecchymosis were evaluated on the first, third and seventh postoperative days using scale of 0 to 4 used by observers. Results: We observed that the administration of topical bromelain-arnica gel after surgery was effective clinically and statistically in decreasing the score of both edema and ecchymosis in open septorhinoplasty with ostetomies. In group 2 patients, periorbital edema and ecchymosis scores were significantly lower compared to control group (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Our results support that topical administration of bromelain and arnica gel combination provided both clinically and statistically significant reduction in periorbital edema and ecchymosis following septorhinoplasty.

Sinusitis is a common disease in childhood and puberty with significant morbidity and the potential for serious complications. There are two types of acute sinusitis: viral and bacterial. Viral sinusitis develops during a cold. Some children with certain predisposing diseases may develop forms of chronic sinusitis, which is usually not of infectious origin. Children and adolescents may have nonspecific symptoms: fever, nasal congestion, nasal secretion. Less common difficulties include bad breath, reduction sense of smell, and periorbital edema. Headaches and facial pain are rare in children. The most common symptoms are headache, tenderness in the facial area and a stuffy nose.
