Let R be a commutative von Neumann regular ring. We show that every finitely generated ideal I in the ring of polynomials R[X] has a strong Gr?bner basis. We prove this result using only the defining property of a von Neumann regular ring.

As a proper generalization of injective modules in term of supplements, we say that a module $M$ has the property (ME) if, whenever $M\subseteq N$, $M$ has a supplement $K$ in $N$, where $K$ has a mutual supplement in $N$. In this study, we obtain that $(1)$ a semisimple $R$-module $M$ has the property (E) if and only if $M$ has the property (ME); $(2)$ a semisimple left $R$-module $M$ over a commutative Noetherian ring $R$ has the property (ME) if and only if $M$ is algebraically compact if and only if almost all isotopic components of $M$ are zero; $(3)$ a module $M$ over a von Neumann regular ring has the property (ME) if and only if it is injective; $(4)$ a principal ideal domain $R$ is left perfect if every free left $R$-module has the property (ME)

Let [Formula: see text] be a commutative ring extension such that [Formula: see text] is a trivial extension of [Formula: see text] (denoted by [Formula: see text]) or an amalgamated duplication of [Formula: see text] along some ideal of [Formula: see text] (denoted by [Formula: see text]. This paper examines the transfer of AM-ring, N-ring, SSP-ring and SP-ring between [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text]. We study the transfer of those properties to trivial ring extension. Call a special SSP-ring an SSP-ring of the following type: it is the trivial extension of [Formula: see text] by a C-module [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] is an SSP-ring, [Formula: see text] a von Neumann regular ring and [Formula: see text] a multiplication C-module. We show that every SSP-ring with finitely many minimal primes which is a trivial extension is in fact special. Furthermore, we study the transfer of the above properties to amalgamated duplication along an ideal with some extra hypothesis. Our results allows us to construct nontrivial and original examples of rings satisfying the above properties.

Let [Formula: see text] be a commutative ring and let [Formula: see text] be a proper ideal of [Formula: see text]. In this paper, we study some algebraic and homological properties of a family of rings [Formula: see text], with [Formula: see text], that are obtained as quotients of the Rees algebra associated with the ring [Formula: see text] and the ideal [Formula: see text]. Specially, we study when [Formula: see text] is a von Neumann regular ring, a semisimple ring and a Gaussian ring. Also, we study the classical global and weak global dimensions of [Formula: see text]. Finally, we investigate some homological properties of [Formula: see text]-modules and we show that [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] are Gorenstein projective [Formula: see text]-modules, provided some special conditions.

In a semiprime ring, von Neumann regular elements are determined by their inner inverses. In particular, for elements [Formula: see text] of a von Neumann regular ring [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] if and only if [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] denotes the set of inner inverses of [Formula: see text]. We also prove that, in a semiprime ring, the same is true for reflexive inverses.

Let E be an arbitrary graph, K be any field and A be the endomorphism ring of L := LK(E) considered as a right L-module. Among the other results, we prove that: (1) if A is a von Neumann regular ring, then A is dependent if and only if for any two paths in L satisfying some conditions are initial of each other, (2) if A is dependent then LK(E) is morphic, (3) L is morphic and von Neumann regular if and only if L is semisimple and every homogeneous component is artinian.

A ring R is called right SSP (SIP) if the sum (intersection) of any two direct summands of RR is also a direct summand. Left SSP (SIP) rings are defined similarly. There are several interesting results on rings with SSP. For example, R is right SSP if and only if R is left SSP, and R is a von Neumann regular ring if and only if Mn(R) is SSP for some n > 1. It is shown that R is a semisimple ring if and only if the column finite matrix ring ℂFMℕ(R) is SSP, where ℕ is the set of natural numbers. Some known results are proved in an easy way through idempotents of rings. Moreover, some new results on SSP rings are given.

A ring R is called NLI (rings whose nilpotent elements form a Lie ideal) if for each a ∈ N(R) and b ∈ R, ab − ba ∈ N(R). Clearly, NI rings are NLI. In this note, many properties of NLI rings are studied. The main results we obtain are the following: (1) NLI rings are directly finite and left min-abel; (2) If R is a NLI ring, then (a) R is a strongly regular ring if and only if R is a Von Neumann regular ring; (b) R is (weakly) exchange if and only if R is (weakly) clean; (c) R is a reduced ring if and only if R is a n-regular ring; (3) If R is a NLI left MC2 ring whose singular simple left modules are Wnil-injective, then R is reduced.

Let R be a J-regular ring, i.e., R/J(R) is a von Neumann regular ring, where J(R) is the Jacobson radical of R. It is proved: (i) For every n ≥ 1, R is right n-injective if and only if every homomorphism from an n-generated small right ideal of R to RR can be extended to one from RR to RR. (ii) R is right FP-injective if and only if R is right (J,R)-FP-injective. Some known results are improved.

We continue the study of nil-Armendariz rings, initiated by Antoine, and Armendariz rings. We first examine a kind of ring coproduct constructed by Antoine for which the Armendariz, nil-Armendariz, and weak Armendariz properties are equivalent. Such a ring has an important role in the study of Armendariz ring property and near-related ring properties. We next prove an Antoine's result in relation with the ring coproduct by means of a simpler direct method. In the proof we can observe the concrete shapes of coefficients of zero-dividing polynomials. We next observe the structure of nil-Armendariz rings via the upper nilradicals. It is also shown that a ring R is Armendariz if and only if R is nil-Armendariz if and only if R is weak Armendariz, when R is a von Neumann regular ring.
