Ground grid system is important for preventing the hazardous effects of overvoltage in high voltage substations due to fault current perhaps from lightning strike or device malfunction. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effects of overvoltage on square, rectangular and L-shaped ground grids with ground rods being distributed in mesh-pattern by using alternate transients program/electromagnetic transients program (ATP/EMTP) program. The models were simulated in the cases that 25 kA-fault current being injected into the center or one of the corners of ground grids. The results showed that the highest level of overvoltage (6.3349 kV) was detected at the corner of rectangular ground grid when the fault current was injected into its corner. However, the lowest level of overvoltage was found when the fault current was injected into the center of square ground grid. The results from this study indicated that ATP/EMTP program was useful for preliminary investigation of overvoltage on ground grids of different shapes. The obtained knowledge could be beneficial for further designing of ground grid systems of high voltage substations to receive the minimal damages due to fault current.

In the intelligent substation, the shell of the secondary equipment is connected to the ground grid locally. When the short circuit fault current is injected into the grounding grid to cause the ground potential rise, the potential difference between the two points of the grounding grid will affect the normal operation of the secondary equipment. In this paper, aiming at the grounding grid of a 220kV substation, the grounding impedance, ground potential rise and ground potential difference between galvanized flat steel and copper grounding grid are calculated by using CDEGS software. The results show that the copper ground grid has a significant effect on reducing the potential difference of the ground grid.

The wide application of superhydrophobic materials is mainly hindered by the poor mechanical robustness and complicated preparation method. To overcome these problems, we tried to make a combination of hierarchical and self-similar structure by the means of a simple spraying method. By adding nanofiller (carbon nanotube) and microfiller (graphite powder and expanded graphite), the hierarchical structure was constructed. By further doping the fillers in the commercial asphalt uniformly, the self-similar structure was prepared. Based on the aforementioned work, the as-prepared sample could withstand the sandpaper abrasion for 12.00 m under 4.90 kPa. Moreover, this superhydrophobic coating demonstrated good conductivity, superior self-cleaning property, and excellent corrosion resistance. The integration of conductivity with the superhydrophobicity might open new avenues for ground grid applications.

Abstract. The quality of the 3D model reconstructed using multi-view satellite image depends on the quality of the image. To evaluate the geometric quality of the satellite image, we proposed a method to evaluate the geometric distortion for satellite images and defined the deviation coefficient as a metric to evaluate the bending degree of a curve. After projecting a ground grid consisting of straight lines into the image space, the geometric distortion of the image can be evaluated quantitatively by calculating the deviation coefficients of the projection trajectories. Experiments have been carried out with three datasets obtained by JiLin-1, GaoFen-2, and WorldView-3 respectively. The results show that the proposed method can used to evaluate the geometric quality of satellite images effectively, and this evaluation method will be useful in image selecting in 3D reconstruction using multi-view satellite images.
