Background: The main goal of imaging in acute abdomen is to narrow down the differential diagnosis and for prompt treatment. Material and methods: This study was done on patient presented with acute abdomen in Department of Radiodiagnosis, SMS Medical College & Associate Group of Hospitals, Jaipur. Scout X-ray done in 100 patients. Scout X –Ray film gives lots of information and very helpful in diagnosing perforation and intestinal obstruction. Results: USG was able to diagnose 94% cases of perforation peritonitis. intestinal obstruction was diagnosed only in 73.17% of cases with USG. Conclusion: This study shows that simple X-Ray plays an important role in definite diagnosis of acute abdomen as compare to USG. Keywords: Ultrasound, X- Ray, Acute Abdomen

In this paper, the operation style of “measuring distance” is taken as the research content of this implementation. The expected goal is to use the characteristics of the double reflection type used in the transceiver circuit to perform the function of measuring distance. Finally, the operating principle of the adopted electric circuits and the performance of the proposed device are validated by experimental results. It reveals that the operations of the proposed device coincide with the requirements. Keywords: Ultrasound, Pulse echo method, Single frequency ranging, Verification.

Background: Airway assessment is an essential aspect of preanaesthetic assessment. Presently, prediction of difficult airway is based on clinical assessment of airway. Methods:  Prospective Observational conducted at Department of Anesthesiology, Dr. RPGMC Kangra at Tanda, Himachal Pradesh. Results:  It was observed that 44% patients (n=88) were in grade 2 followed by 27 % (n=54) in grade 1, grade 3 was observed in 24.5% patients (n=49) whereas Cormack Lehane grade 4 was seen in 4.5% patients (n=9) Conclusion: The thyromental distance was more than 6.5 cm in the majority of patients (87.5%) while 12.5% had a thyromental distance less than 6.5 cm. There was a significant difference in Thyromental distance between different Cormack Lehane grades (P=0.001) Keywords: Ultrasound, endotracheal intubation, direct laryngoscopy

Background: Difficult and failed tracheal intubation after direct laryngoscopy is a dreaded complication of general anesthesia as it is associated with serious morbidity and mortality. Methods: Prospective Observational conducted at Department of Anesthesiology, Dr. RPGMC Kangra at Tanda, Himachal Pradesh. Results: In the present study, the mean hyomental distance ratio was (mean±SD:1.1.±.127 and 1.04±.018) in predicting CL grade 3 and 4 respectively (P=0.010) and 1.12±.033, 1.11±.035 in grade 1 and 2 respectively. Conclusion: Ultrasound is better and fast in confirming endotracheal intubation. Keywords: Ultrasound, endotracheal intubation, direct laryngoscopy.

Background: The local anaesthetic(LA) injection technique during ultrasound guided nerve blocks varies worldwide. This online poll was conceived to explore the current practice among the anaesthesiologists. Methodology: Two separate polls were created and posted at the same time with appropriate multiple choices in a closed Facebook group ‘The Anaesthetist’. Participants were allowed to take part in these online-based polls over a period of seven days. The responses were collected and put down in the Excel sheet to calculate absolute numbers and percentages. Results: Among the respondents, 63.45% of the ultrasound users keep hold on to the needle and let a trained assistant inject the LA while 14.61 % of the responders use ‘Let Go’ of the needle technique and inject the LA themselves. Amongst 248 ultrasound users, only one anaesthesiologist use Jedi grip but no one is currently using other grips described in the literature. Conclusion: LA injection technique varies among the anaesthesiologists throughout the globe. Majority of the anaesthesiologists let a trained assistant inject the LA and some inject the LA themselves. Keywords: Ultrasound, Regional Anaesthesia, Jedi grip, Bedforth grip, On-lock grip, ‘let-go’ of the needle, Single-handed injection technique, Online poll
