AbstractWe study the following Choquard type equation in the whole plane $$\begin{aligned} (C)\quad -\Delta u+V(x)u=(I_2*F(x,u))f(x,u),\quad x\in \mathbb {R}^2 \end{aligned}$$ ( C ) - Δ u + V ( x ) u = ( I 2 ∗ F ( x , u ) ) f ( x , u ) , x ∈ R 2 where $$I_2$$ I 2 is the Newton logarithmic kernel, V is a bounded Schrödinger potential and the nonlinearity f(x, u), whose primitive in u vanishing at zero is F(x, u), exhibits the highest possible growth which is of exponential type. The competition between the logarithmic kernel and the exponential nonlinearity demands for new tools. A proper function space setting is provided by a new weighted version of the Pohozaev–Trudinger inequality which enables us to prove the existence of variational, in particular finite energy solutions to (C).

The multidimensional Riesz potential type operators are of interest within mathematical modelling in economics, mathematical physics, and other, both theoretical and applied, disciplines as they play a significant role for analysis on fractal sets. Approaches of operator theory are relevant to researching various equations, which are widespread in financial analysis. In this chapter, integral equations with potential type operators are considered for functions from generalized Hölder spaces, which provide content terminology for formalizing the concept of smoothness, briefly described in the presented chapter. Results on potentials defined on the unit sphere are described for convenience of the analysis. An inverse operator for the Riesz potential with a logarithmic kernel is carried out, and the isomorphisms between generalized Hölder spaces are proven.

A nonlinear singularly perturbed Cauchy problem with confluent Fuchsian singularities is examined. This problem involves coefficients with polynomial dependence in time. A similar initial value problem with logarithmic reliance in time has recently been investigated by the author, for which sets of holomorphic inner and outer solutions were built up and expressed as a Laplace transform with logarithmic kernel. Here, a family of holomorphic inner solutions are constructed by means of exponential transseries expansions containing infinitely many Laplace transforms with special kernel. Furthermore, asymptotic expansions of Gevrey type for these solutions relatively to the perturbation parameter are established.
